Quality Inn Suites, Noblesville Indiana

staying here on an over night business trip.

opened my drawer nwt bible i fell out of my bed.

called the front desk they are in every room here.. i will never stay at another quality inn even though they are owned individually.

Leave the NWT there but write some notes on the front page explaining to the next reader why it's all crap! That ought to be a note they'd remember the next time the JW comes to their door (yep!).

Personal Relationship with Jehovah?????

i'm new and this is my first post.

when i was in the truth, i remember how we were encouraged to cultivate a personal relationship with jehovah.

we were to think of him as our friend and to rely on him soley.

Funny you should post this now - I was just thinking about this same subject last night. I tried to have a relationship with Jah but found it difficult to "draw close" to someone who must might turn around and kill me and my children at Armageddon if I hadn't "done enough". I struggled with how to love someone who was so harsh, and as others have described the old testament YHWH, jealous and angry.

I quit praying for many years and just went about life. A few years back I started reading my bible again and discovered a number of truths about Jesus and God that I had never been taught as a JW. I learned of a Jesus I never knew, and began to relate to him and want to pray directly to him - being that I still didn't feel comfortable with God. So I did - I started addressing my prayers to both Jesus and God. I felt much more comfortable doing that, and eventually was able to pray directly to God again. Of course, I no longer fear Armagedon and don't believe he will destory me for not "doing enough" so that could also contribute.

He has answered many prayers - and many of those are answers that were beyond my own control - things I could not have subconcsiously MADE happen.

I relate to many on the board here who feel it's next to impossible to have a relationship with someone who does not reciprocate a response - I also struggled with that. Recently I have seen responses, but it would be much easier to have a relationship if the other party would just appear and talk one on one with us.

in the 7/15 wt i dont recall the exact page, i dont have the magazine here at work but there is a chart that lists blood, what components are up to you and which ones are not allowed at all.

anyway its very odd because they list which ones christians should avoid from left to right, i.e.

red blood cells, white blood cells, plasma, etc.

you get around that by taking the booze out of the container first.

So what's wrong with that? Sounds like a pretty good work around to me (he he)

What did you get for Father's Day?

celebrating my first father's day and guess what!

and i'm not making this up.. my wife just handed me .

removable duck tape (yes duck not duct).

Well - my dad has passed on but since he was a JW I never did the "father's day" thing anyways - so no bad feelings there.

However - the kids and I showered my hubby this year 'cause he deserves it. I baked him a few dozen of his favorite cookies. Then the kids and I gave him a cordless drill with all the bits and do-dads that come with it (he really wanted one) and our little girl also picked out some funky ti-die flourescent sunglass holders for him (she's 7 and thinks they're just cool!). Then we took him out to dinner. And after that, the kids went to bed and I gave him one more present (naughty naughty....).

It was really fun to show him so much attention because he works hard and is a good dad so he deserves a special day.

Who actually did the disfellowshipping?

when i was disfellowshipped, i was really looking for a way out, although i did not want to be disfellowshipped, it was easier than making the break on my own.. i appreciate that many are distraught when they get df'd, but was the actual meeting controlled by the elders or you?.

how many were really in control of the meeting and knew that being disfellowshipped was actually a way of ensuring that you would get no more hassle from the elders?

First time I was DF'd the elders were definately in control. I didn't want to be DF'd and was completely ~~brainwashed~~ convinced it was the truth. So I kept going to meetings and was reinstated about 6 months later. That set of FOUR elders were a$$wipes - careless, inconsiderate, and treated me very rude and degrading.

4 yrs later - I wanted OUT - I controlled the second meeting and wanted to be DF'd. I actually feel bad for the second set of elders because they were three really nice men with good hearts and they wanted to help, they're just mislead. They didn't want to DF me and gave me a second chance - in fact, they begged me to stay and let them help me get ~~brainwashed again~~ spiritually strengthened - so I went home and slept with my boyfriend AGAIN and went back and told them. They didn't really have a choice then - and they knew I wasn't giving them one. It was easier for me at the time to be DF'd than to Disassociate myself because my parents would still talk to me if I was DF'd but not if I Disassociated ('cause then I'd be a free-thinker apostate person).

My Grandad died this morning

the last grandparent i had died this morning.. .

he was such a great guy.

was in the raf in wwii and went to iraq and other places but didn't really talk much about the war.
