Does any ex-elder no the thinking behind that???
Same idiots who think a woman is not as smart as a man, shouldnt' work outside the home, and should be under the control of her husband
this was one of the craziest things i remember about the summer conventions.
i would go into the sister's bathrooms and the mirrors would all be taped up with brown paper so that we couldn't look at our reflections.
were were amish or something?

for me it was that god will destroy billions of innocent children simply because their parents weren't jehovah's witnesses.....and you??
?
Scoob - it's so simple. Don't you realize that perfect people don't trip? See - it's just that simple
for me it was that god will destroy billions of innocent children simply because their parents weren't jehovah's witnesses.....and you??

I'm with you minimus - I could never accept that innocent children would be destroyed by a God that is supposed to be so loving.
this is a question my wife asked me again today.
i get this question asked about every 3 to 4 months.
she is concerned about what other people may think i guess.
A lot - I plan to serve free alcohol!
Really though, if I have my way about it........then the people at my funeral will hopefully be:
All of my kids (which means none of them have passed on before me)
All of my grandkids (none of which I have yet, but I'm planning to live a long time)
All of my great grandkids (again......I plan to live a long long time)
My brothers (which would mean they are finally free of the JW mindset and can come to my church services)
All of the people I have helped (I could only hope that my life was worth this much - that 10 times more more people are touched by me in a positive way than those I have hurt somehow)
.

i'm new to this forum.
actually i've been a lurker for awhile.
posted on sassy's call to the newbies.
Hi Marie:
Welcome! Don't fret - you have time to research and figure out what you want to do. As far as your new baby - teach nim what you truly believe in your heart is the best for his life. It is our responsibility to lift our children up to a higher place than where we are - in that end each generation can grow better and further.
this is a classic !
i am currently disfellowshiped and have been attending the sunday meetings at the kingdom hall for the last 2 years.
i am in my mid to late 40's.
Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them Matt 7:20
I wonder what tree he came off of?
if you still go to meetings, has anyone read the watchtower for this sunday's study?
its really really messed up, and they're still trying to justify 1914 and 607 and stuff.
i was reading that sunday before the study w/ the elder, and so i just told him that i didn't think jerusalem fell in 607. showed him a few things, then now both of us are researching it.. personal opinion of this weeks' watchtower is that its more of a crock of shit than it has been for awhile.
salvation does not rest on dates but by following Jehovah's revealed chronology,
Scholar - again you make statements that are clearly not what Jesus taught. The best response I can give you is from the word itself:
For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ (1 Thessalonians 5:9)
Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the elect, that they too may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory. (2 Timothy 2:10)
and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. (2 Timothy 3:15)
We believe it is through the grace of our Lord Jesus that we are saved, just as they are. (Acts 15:11)
They replied, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved?you and your household. (Acts 16:31)
That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9)
who has saved us and called us to a holy life?not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time (2 Timothy 1:9)
Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies (John 11:25)
Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me (John 14:6)
But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name. John 20:31
For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God's abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ. (Romans 5:17)
Clearly salvation comes through Jesus. Scholar - show me the scriptures that say salvation comes through someone or something other than Jesus - more to the point - show me the scriptures that say salvation comes through the 144,00.
if you knew that the policy was that there would be no more witchhunts, no more disfellowshippings or shunning of any kind, would you be tempted to go back?
No. They still have placed themselves in the position of Christ, saying that the "great crowd" can only be saved through the 144,000. This is not what Jesus taught - he said that HE was the way - period.
If I was to go back to them for any reason I would essentially be telling Jesus that I no longer wanted him as my savior but was replacing him with the organization. No thank you!
i've heard 777 or 7777 used as a godly number in christian televangelist hotline numbers, 777music.com is a christian music online store, and the number is supposed to represent an ideally perfect number representing god and his creation.
but it strikes me as a pallid ripoff of 666, and nothing in the bible seems to produce a higher order number above 70 (7 x 10) with 7.
144,000 is of course based on 12 and 10. and contrary to it being such a godly number, it seems to have been the subject to a book on gematria and the kabbalah by satan incarnate himself, aleister crowley.
I'd have to say I'd rather see 777 than 666.....after all, 666 gets me nothing on the slot machine.....but 777 is the big pay-off (big money...big money........)
