pomegranate - you're right! It's just that most people don't get it. I think the whole "give your life to Jesus" thing should be renamed......"accept that it was his already".

Paul:
I liked your post.
I doubt that I would have had the courage to approach him - I'm pretty much a woosie and I'm always trying to make everyone happy (must overcome that!!). To speak to someone about Jesus (or any spiritual belief for that matter) when you know they will make fun of you, ignore you, or look down on you is not an easy thing to do. Great job!

Doctor Visit Today
by Amazing inwell folks: i had my first follow-up visit, and things are not as good as i was hoping.
essentially, using diet and exercise to try and reverse my clogged arteries is okay for 15 areas which are 50% or less clogged, by 2 of the points are 80% occluded ... and must be treated in a matter of months, or i face death inside a year ... so, i have some time, but not as i hoped.
the two bad occlusions art each at the intersections of main branches ... and either of them would likely kill me if they close up.. the doctor was impressed with my diet changes, lifestyle adjustments, and weight loss and level of recovery ... but the recovery is limited, in that i still have some strong angina with mild exercise, strongly suggesting my heart does not get enough blood when i exercise, and then when i eat a large meal, the stomach uses enough blood flow, that the heart gets starved and i go into serious angina ... soooo ... i am ordered to limit exercise and eat 6 to 8 tiny meals a day ... and i am even getting a handicap sign for my car ... yikes!

Amazing:
Thanks for the update, and I will be thinking of you and praying for you.
My father had a triple by-pass surgery in 1995 so I can relate to some of the decisions you have to make now. Just a little ray of light for you...after my dad's recouperated from his by-pass surgery he had more energy and felt better than he had in years. Getting all that blood flowing again really perked him up!!
Take care and keep us posted. I have so enjoyed your posts - they have really helped me!

Quantum - "not one negative anti-mormon cl...
by alex_recovering_mormon innot one negative anti-mormon claim has stood up to scrutiny?
baloney - here is a list for your leadership to honestly respond to.
the lds church has no foundation of truth at all since the first vision is uncredible, the book of mormon & book of abraham are obviously fiction, the church plagiarized their temple ordinances, they are clueless on the nature of god, etc.

This thread has had a suprisingly additional positive aspect for me - it only shows how clearly WE were also mislead by the JW's. In reading the discussion between Recovering and Quantum it was like looking from the outside into our own situation with the JW's. How interesting to see this as a completely objective observer. My heart really goes out to those who are so mislead by the WTBS and Mormonism.
Recovering - thank you for your post - it was really appreciated!!
Quantum - I have also read your posts, and discussed Mormonism at length in the past with my friend who is a very faithful Mormon. I find no basis solid basis for your religion - it's foundation is as flaky as the WTBS. And your arguments are as twisted in logic as those the elders gave me when I asked tough questions about JW doctrines.
One more thing I find very eerily similar - your pompous attitude is equal to that of JW's.
Quantum the Kind
Quantum the Undefeated
Quantum is a Great Teacher
Quantum the One Who Knows
Quantum a Righteous Judge
Quantum He who instructs
and on, and on, and on

How to get reinstated
by snowboardingguy inwhat kind of questions am i gonna get asked when i go to get reinstated?
how hard is gonna be?
-
Dawn
Hi Snowboard:
The people here on the board have pretty much hit the mark on what it takes to get reinstated.
If reinstatement is what YOU want then I really hope it works out for you - each person must make a decision as to what path to lead and it's not up to anyone else to judge them.
Rom 14:4 Who are you to pass judgment on the servant of another? It is before his own master that he stands or falls. And he will be upheld, for the Master is able to make him stand.
If you are returning because you miss family and friends - my heart really goes out to you. There are many on this board in your same position - that are living the life of a JW without really believing it. It is a tough position to be in. I rode that fence for a long time because I did not want to loose my family and friends. When I was finally DF'd and walked away I thought it would be the worse thing in my life - I was so wrong.
There are two sayings of Jesus that I never understood as a Jehovah's Witness - I knew what I was "suppose" to understand from those scriptures - but they didn't REALLY make sense to me:
Joh 8:32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free."
Mat 11:28-30 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."
Snowboard - do those scriptures have REAL meaning to you? If not, then something is definately wrong. I started studying the bible again a couple of years ago - I read the book of John (all by itself - no other material) - in that I found the REAL Gospel of Jesus. Before long I realized what those two scriptures REALLY meant - his Yoke is easy, his burden is light, and HIS truth WILL set you FREE. My advice is that you at least read the book of John completely - by itself - before you make any further decisions.

Hi Airwalk:
So good to hear from you. Keep looking forward - a day will come when you won't have to jump through hoops to put food on the table & a roof over your head. In the meantime, just do what you need to and take care of yourself. We'll always be here when you need to talk.
PS - tell them you want the bible study to be in the new United book and want to start on the chapter on blood

Quantum / See ExMormon Board
by Amazing inokay quantum: before we do battle with your so-called 'evidence' which are nothing more then unproven assertions --- it is only fair that people here see the ex-mormon board, and except for the label differences, like borg (jw) vs morg (lds) and things like that ... it is like reading a parallel universe of the ex-jw boards ... and the problems with child molestation (i.e.
jeff anderson lawsuit against the mormon church in portland, oregon) and the abuse of women all sound like familiar themes ... and clearly give abundant evidence that the same symptoms must suggest the same causes .... check it out at: http://www.exmormon.org/boards/w-agora/w-agora.php3?site=exmobb&bn=exmobb_recovery.
one ex-mormon fellow has even complained how he was inappropriately touched during his ordination ceremony ... by another man who rubbed up against him with an erection.. such experiences do not address your assertions, and are not intended to ... rather, these and many other ex-mormon experiences suggest that even if the bom, d&c or jod were somewhat historical as is the bible, that mormonism is still seriously deficient ... lacking so much that it does not hold up to being a worthwhile group to participate in ... and .... while many ex-jws are quite capable of debating with you ... i have invited ex-mormons to register here and see if they will deal with you ... they are in a far better position to address your claims and assertions and raise strong and credible concerns ... whereas we ex-jws can sit back and watch and see where it goes.

Basically, he was thankful because this is Thursday night when meeting would have been held
.....they would have been fine - remember how they praised themselves on their ability to evacuate the colliseum so efficiently during the District Convention?
Really though - I have a lot of anger towards the organization, but would hate to see anyone injured by some stupid stunt like deliberately setting a KH on fire - there would be so many children that could be injured or traumatized by that event. Returning evil with evil is never the answer.

Just had to share this post from the ex-mormon board about Quantum - It was so funny but true!!
I think ex-JW's have seen idiots like Quantum before, though. One thing I can't figure out, is why he would go to an ex-JW board to debate the Mormon religion. Isn't that like going to a Pro-Life rally and arguing that Coke is better than Pepsi?
Now THAT is one great quote!
