I am not fully in tune on how things work, but it sure seems to me that everything is done possible to keep situations hushed so the organization does not get a black eye. When I read things here, it does not really surprise me that the members of the watchtower are no different than those they belittle, in fact may be worse since things are protected and the way it sounds, swept under the rug if you happen to be one of the right people.

the confidential judicial files in each congregation of jehovah's witnesses are a potential "bomb"!.
they often make for interesting reading, if you have access to them.

Can you function w/o your cell phone?
by unbeliever ini went without my cell phone for a couple of days because i left it at my brothers house.
he lives in another state and i had to wait for it to be overnighted to me.
i could not believe how crazy i went without it.

I carry a cell phone, but really probably use it once or twice a week, outside of long distance calls to my parents because we have unlimited nights/weekends. It is a wonderful tool when traveling or for an emergency, but there are so many people who are plain RUDE using a phone on a day to day basis, taking calls in the midst of face to face conversations, while checking out in a store and driving. I must applaud a store in Seattle where the cashier had a sign that said something to the effect "when you get off of your phone I will wait on you", and she lived by that statement.

New Tract Distribution Question
by startingover ini ran into a jw friend doing the tract work this weekend, and she was carrying the tracts in a folder.
both her and her partner looked like they were out doing a survey because of the way they were holding the folder with no bookbag present.
i just talked to an ex-jw friend in another state, and he said he saw someone in his neighborhood doing the same thing, and didn't think they were jw's because of it, but a tract ended up at their door.. just curious, for those of you in the know, was there some instruction to do this work in this way?

by Simon inof course, as it's the murdering, war-crime-committing, un-mandate-ignoring, nuclear-non-proliferation-flouting israeli friends of america, they probably won't see it as an issue at all.. funny that ... they were dead keen on going to war over just the hint of this very thing but probably won't even condemn it.. it's about time that sanctions were imposed on israel.

The coddling of Isreal is something that is an embarrasment to me, why this country continues to get special treatment from the US and GB is beyond me, and I feel that this administration is even worse at allowing too much to happen. The double standards are also so very troubling.

My wife was brought up jw and is now taking college classes and really having trouble thinking for herself, she initally thought that the books should provide the answers (jw think) but is now starting to realize that she needs to utilize critical or socratic thinking and I think the development of these skills has really gone a long way in her questioning the borg.
I don't think a jw would study the Bible with you without the JW literature.

Internet Service Provided By The Society
by BlackPearl inthere's been speculation about how the society could make wt cd's with "site monitoring" software on them, how about internet service provided by the society?
this way you'd feel like you have the freedom to surf the net but all the "bad" stuff would be blocked out.
they'd have total control over what the surfer sees.

Inactive/Faded JWs

My wife's family blames a lot of her inactivity on me, she was never baptised, but as a child she did a good job of keeping the parents happy and doing the jw things, now she avoids the jws best she can, though she is still not convinced it is not the truth, which I need to work on and have her conclude (I can't do it for her).
