Thanks so very much, reading your reviews helped me learn to see between the lines of what was written vice the real truth. You have done a wonderful job of educating many of us who originally did not have any exposure to the WTS, showing us the dangers of something that as taken at face value does not appear to be dangerous at all. virginia tech faculty and students are asking that people wear orange or burgandy today.
let's show our support for the families and friends of the victims of virginia tech.
let's do whatever we can to keep children safe in order to go to school, and learn.
Is a very difficult decision for many of them, my bosses son really struggled over this, he was in a classroom at Norris where the door was blocked, but shots came through the door. He has decided to return to school to get back to his routine, but being an engineering student, his routine will be very changed with Norris not open for the rest of the semester.
Please do keep the complete student and faculty body at Blacksburg in your thoughts and prayers.
i'm pretty upset after watching the crap on msnbc last night.. they kept milking the story about their package from that psycho, constantly flashing his photos and videos on the screen--just the way he envisioned it.. repeatedly the psychological experts they interviewed told them that this course of action would only serve to encourage others.. meanwhile they interview the president of nbc news, who talked about the "careful" consideration about what to do with the contents of the package, deciding to "immediately" turn it over to investigators.
(but apparantly not until they copied some of the videos and photos).. for their rationale on their decision to air these materials, all they could offer was, "if we didn't do it, some tabloid would have done it".
they were the only ones that got the stuff!.
I work in Virginia and there are many people at this office who are alumni or have children attending Virginia Tech. In speaking with some of them this morning, seeing the video on essentially every media outlet has done nothing good for them at all. Many of the families of the victims of this senseless episode who were scheduled to be on the Today show have cancelled their appearance due to NBCs actions with respect to this matter.
To me the proper course was to turn the package over to the authorities, not first make copies for their own benefit prior to turning this over.
ok, i just got back from going to the movie bridge to tarabithia.. without going into details, the movie touches on the idea of unsaved persons going to hell.. this bothers me a great deal.. i just walked out of a religion that teaches that millions are going to be destroyed for not worshipping god just the right way.. it is amazing how many people really do believe that i and my husband and my fellow pagan friends, will be burning in hell.. how does that differ from armageddon?.
this was a key reason why i left orthodox christianity behind.
my sister as well as so many others have lived their own personal hells here on earth, the notion that a person could believe that since they do not believe in jesus as their saviour they will burn in hell is just beyond unsettling.

they made it seem like it was going to shake the wtb$ to its core, but i have not seen anything else about it.
Have spent some time looking at is as well, lots of good information and nicely organized. The music is a bit spooky, but that may be enough to keep some interested.
The webmasters who have created the site I feel did a great job since the material presented has a lot of direct quotes/pictures from wts literature and is portrayed very factually!!
while in the borg, we seemed to be focused on people, but it was false, only looking for opportunities to 'convert', 'study with', 'help them into the truth'.. i have noticed that i take a genuine interest in others now.
those i meet in public, my gay child care provider, her childen, her partner.
parents of other children we meet at events [we care for our grandkids].
As my wife has slowly drifted away from her wt family, she has also become more compassionate, it is a very slow but wonderful transformation.
i cannot believe what i saw happen today at the store.. i was at wal-mart browsing various electronics and digital cameras and such, when i heard behind me, "brother hardy, how are you!"...
first thing i thought was oh shit, they found me, and forgot my real name, or have me mixed up with someone else.. turns out, this disfellowshiped witness was there at the store and saw one of his congregation members there.
now i personally have never been part of the shunning process myself, but here i am, an ex-jw watching from the other aisle, a bunch of shit that i never thought i would see the lights of day on.... the brother, this "hardy" i guess, looked up at the man with a smile, but then when he realized who it was, he immediately frowned and started pushing his shopping cart away looking straight ahead and not even acknowledging the man... (here's where i jump in..).

i had a whole "presentation" memorized to get her to think, but i couldn't do it.

I think the California thing is pretty much fair game and now with the conviction of Jesus Cano in NY, it is further supported. Seems to be very damning seeing that this brochure is so against behavior like this, and uses it as a sign of a false religion. A tract like the 'false religion' tract makes the organization open for a lot of questions. This is a classic example of the pot calling the kettle black.
