Ian Shanks - former CO. Does anyone know if he still does circuit work? Or what he does now? I heard he nearly got married (surprising). Was this the case? What happened?
Martin Benzie - am I correct in saying he is in Edinburgh now?
I may say that this whole procedure is utterly laughable. I realise people have their reasons at the time but I couldn't put myself through it. I couldn't bear them to have their stupid, ridiculous rules put upon me. Grown men treating another person like that over dogma, faith.

another year, another year with no armageddon.. i have noticed the jw pals and family become more frenzied of late, small things in the news wind them up and make them more hysterical than ever.
the events in paris were horrendous, but to a jw they mean the end is near...........why wasn't it near when chechnya was in the shit?

I note the hysteria in both their general attitude and their TV productions etc.
From top to bottom, it's as if people realise that they've invested so much time in the religion (essentially, their lives) and they just CANNOT accept the folly of everything that they have become as people and as a religion
Even in the face of logical, coherant argumentation, I've been told by two or three JW's recently - "well that's what I believe, like it or lump it. It comforts me so leave it alone"
No argument back. No defence of their beliefs. Just fingers in the ears and holding on tight to the comfort blanket.
Laughable.

Is it possible to use this thread to compile watchtowers Armageddon illustrations
by jambon1 ini was informed today by a jw that the watchtower doesn't use images and propaganda to instil fear.
i would really like to see a compilation of all their armageddon illustrations.
maybe a thread or web page already exists that had this content.. the one i am really wanting is the most recent picture of the witnesses in the basement during the tribulation.. this will be a massive help so thank you..

The JW religion has just cost me my marriage & my family life
by jambon1 inafter leaving the organisation 10 years ago i fought with everything i had to stay in my marriage and with my three children.
after a tumultuous number of years trying to maintain a happy family life while living in a divided home, it's finally over.
the religion is single handedly responsible for destroying my marriage and my family.

Like I say, I find the most galling thing the inability of my wife to consider the objections of her husband of 20 years.
Take for example disfellowshipping. I have repeatedly explained to her that you cannot decide on the rightness of something based on a one sided story. We all know the society's take on disfellowshipping - it's loving, it takes faith, people thank you in the end for the shunning.
I really wanted my wife to read some accounts of those who were really negatively affected by it. The other side of it. The suicides, the depression, the feeling of social exclusion. She simply wouldn't do it.
That was only one area that I had massive reservations about. There were plenty more.
To give up on your marriage without even making an effort to see the other side of the story is absolutely astonishing to me.
