ok i started another thread and every one jumped on me because i was trying to take the theory of evolution out of the mix and most here seem to believe in it so i will just say it.

the issue has always been the mechanism of evolution – is it blind and undirected or is it under the control of an intelligence that had a goal in mind
This is a silly argument. Just suppose for a moment that you had such an intelligence - from whence did it come? Did it evolve? If so was that evolution also guided by intelligence? From whence came that one? ad infinitum ad nauseum.
i noticed over the years how bros & sis(tm) would pronounce words/names differently or totally substitute them so as not to sound offensive.. egs:.
instead of 'bible aids' a bro(tm) said 'bible helps' thus avoiding aids disease!?!.
instead of sodom the bro(tm) pronounced it 'sow dom'.
"The sun throwing off a bit. A mass ejaculation". Think he meant a coronal mass ejection.
This is a result of what we call "putting a $10 word in a $5 mouth."
Kind of along the same lines.....if someone mispronounces a word, it continues to be mis-pronounced by every one else thereafter.
Reminds me of a funny story. This one week I was the WT reader, and it happend to be the week the Elders were all away at some school. So the conductor was this young MS, an Elder's son and a real square - a true company man boy (he later went to Beth-hell). Anyhoo, the word hyperbole was in the lesson a few times. So I read the paragraph and pronounced it "hyper-bowl". MSBoy reads the question - says "hyper-bow-lee". This goes on for a couple paragraphs, until somone's bible study, who was a schoolteacher, made a comment on a paragraph and pronounced it correctly.
The word was pronounced correctly for the remainder of the lesson.

Unless there is a chapter explaining exactly how there was some "intelligent designer" that originated from nothing, this book doesn't explain any origin of life.

everyone has their own beliefs and all should be treated with respect.
Willful ignorance deserves no respect from anyone. Attempting to have your ignorance taught in school to indoctrinate the next generation into it - deserves annihilation.

Meh. I'm not against it if the money was just for restoration of the buildings. Many old churches are very beautiful and historic buildings in their own right, quite apart from any religious use.

i read an interesting article in the awake in the scientist on-line magazine and i thought i would summarise it for the lovely people on jwn.
this is a great example of what survival of the fittest really is and it provides evidence of evolution that can be observed in our own lifetimes.. creationists will say this is micro evolution and not macro evolution (or as an evolutionary biologist refer to it speciation).
they will argue that that these are two different concepts, but the reality is that it is an accumulation of these small changes occurring in different populations that will eventually create a divergence resulting in a new species.. charles brown of the university of tulsa has been studying the social behaviour of cliff swallows for the past 31 years (good job armageddon didnt strike in 1975).

Evolution does not speak as to a creator at all.

If it is proven to me that there is no creator before I die
No, see. Evolution, which shows that a creator is not necessary, HAS BEEN proven as a a FACT.
The existence of a creator God HAS NOT been proven.
So, that puts the onus on y'all creationists to show that there is a creator God.
