lol.
so my parents are studying how to convince one of their bible studies that jws are not a cult.
they just checked two different dictionaries, realized that the definitions given could, indeed, apply to jws.
Exactly. So YOU THINK it means the GB. JWs THINK it means a political development. Other christians, who have no connection with the JWs probably THINK it means something else entirely. Not a "fulfilled prophecy". Not a "prophecy" at all. Just words that can fit whatever people want them to mean. I rest my case. Debating this is rather pointless.
lol.

Ok, name one prophecy that has been fulfilled.
lol.

The evidence is prophesy fullfilled.
Ok, you're just trolling now.
lol.

Hold up. Let's just back up here a second, missy.
First off, the proper pronoun is he.
Secondly, age has nothing to do with the evidence. I'm 30, btw, and I honestly don't give a flying fuck how old you are.
Third, I'm pagan, not atheist, though I was an atheist for a time. Either way, I could give a shit less if you think I'm an "anti-christ" For the record, Christ seems like an okay guy. It's his followers that piss me off.
Four, I have studied the Bible and, more important, I have studied ABOUT the Bible. (Most scholars will tell you that Moses, by the way, did not write the first five books, they are compliations from a much later time. The Gospels likely weren't written by Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John either.) I see no evidence of inspiration in the Bible or any other "holy" book, not even my belief system's own Edda. Largely holy books are 1) history and 2) morality tales (the morality of which may or may not be applicable today).
Five, unlike religious fanatics, I am willing to change my view if sufficient evidence is given. I note, interestingly, that you have not bothered to provide evidence of the "divine inspiration" of the Bible, only unfounded assertions.
lol.

Ugh. I know. That "definition" is so assinine.
The standard for what is orthodox, however, should be God’s Word (Why? and which God, anyway?), and Jehovah’s Witnesses strictly adhere to (their own version of) the Bible. (upon close study of the Bible, it is clearly solely of human origin and bears no evidence of "divine inspiration" whatsoever.)
Their worship is a way of life, not a ritual devotion. (False dichotomy - ritual devotion can be [and for JWs, is] a way of life)
They neither follow a human (no, they follow a group of them. Nice try, WTB$) nor isolate themselves from the rest of society. (Yes, yes they do.) They live and work in the midst of other people. (But have no social contact beyond that, save for the "preaching work". This is isolation, just not the physical kind.)
Yea, I know, I'm preaching to the choir here, but I just gotta vent.
lol.

Lol. So my parents are studying how to convince one of their bible studies that JWs are not a cult. They just checked TWO different dictionaries, realized that the definitions given could, indeed, apply to JWs. Their reaction: "These dictionaries are no good." Truely insane. It was all I could do not to bust out laughing.
i copied this text from a friend's wall on facebook, do you agree with his sentiment?.
"this world is not our home.
we are strangers here.
Yes and no. I do believe that there is something after death. Christians call it Heaven, I call it Valhalla, still others think we just cycle back around the earth again.
Still that doesn't mean that we should ignore this life. I think we need to live this life to the best of our ability. I don't think *insert deity name* would want us to ignore what is going on here simply because it's "only temporary".
Besides, the atheists could be right and we may only get one shot. Shame to waste it.
the gods of metal!
big 4, yankee stadium, metallica, megadeth, slayer, anthrax.
eight hours of show with some of the greatest thrash metal bands to have ever existed playing their best to an utterly packed crowed at yankees stadium, finishing off with all off the big 4 playing overkill, a tribute to lemmy and his band motorhead, one of the original metal gods.. .
<---- Jealous x infinity.
let's say it was revealed via the media and scientific community that a planet wide catastrophe such as a large comet or asteroid impact or even a brush with a large planetary body or black hole was emminant and that it was certain to devistate the planet in say 18 months.
how would you spend the remaining time?
if the event was considered possibly survivable by maybe a few million what action, if any would you take?
Jack, You have a PM.
