My name is Virgochik, and I have a shoe problem. I try not to look at them because I can't stop buying them, Well, we only live once so I should enjoy all my shoes. The ones that don't work out, I give to charity so it's not compltely selfish. It's kinda my hobby.

You ever drive to the meeting, or field service meeting point, and do a U-Turn and go back home?
by miseryloveselders ini did this today.
last night, the pretty little weather girl stated there would "be heavy rain marked by occasional thunderstorms.
" i thought to myself, great, hopefully its so bad when i awaken, anybody originally planning on going out, will just stay home.

Yep. I SO remember this happening, and it's been twenty-eight years! After I got my first place, my parents urged me to keep up with the meetings. I got dressed up in my panty-hose and skirt one hot summer nite and drove towards the Hall. I saw the cars in the lot and hesitated when my stomach churned with dread. I missed my turn. They were the biggest hypocrites, all smarmy smiles and so fake when they pretended to be glad to see me. I did a u-turn back towards the Hall but just kept on going .I just couldn't go in there. I went home, put on some shorts and had a nice cold beer. I've never been back.

When they say Oct. 2011, they mean fiscal yeat (FY) 2011, so that could be anywhere from Oct to Jan2011. PO box mail will still be put up and Express mail will be delivered, just no street delivery on Saturdays. I'm a postal employee, so we're watching closely how this will impact jobs. It all depends on Congressional approval. The Board of Governors recently approved 5-day so the Postal Regulatory Comission has to pass it next, then it goes to Congress.
There's just not enough mail anymore to support 6 days a week, and honestly, polls show the public doesn't care if one day is cut. The USPS is hoping for more early retirements, If that doesn't downsize us enough, those with less than 6 years of employment might get laid off. Current contracts with the unions ban layoffs, but the contracts are almost due to expire. When talks begin, look for major concessions.

Older Pets.....a fluff thread....What do your older pets do/need from you?
by restrangled inmy kids are grown and the pets they grew up with are now getting into their senior years.. how sweet they are.

We had to take our old lady cat to the vet for a cortisone shot. He said she had an inflamed disc in her back that was causing her pain. We carried her to her Fancy Feast bowl and litter box for a couple of days, and were so relieved she pulled out of her pain. Hope she's with us for many more years!
Our elderly dog had to have his teeth cleaned, not cheap but he's family. He groans when getting to his feet but he still follows me from room to room, flopping down in the doorway to protect me. No matter how many times he has to get up, he still goes with me. I make sure he gets roast beef and gravy with the family!

Does the new Catholic scandal help or hurt in exposing the WT abuse scandals?
by undercover inwith all the attention being paid to new allegations of abuse cover-up in the catholic church i wonder:.
1. does this take the heat off the wts and are they hoping to slide through less scrutinized while the pope gets skewered by the media?
will the wts be stupid enough to try to capitalize on the catholics problems by printing articles critical of them?.

I think the great tribulation is beginning. This will lead to widespread anger against organized religion and then Armageddon will come. I don't know if I'm kidding or not! It has crossed my mind more than a few times.

A casual discussion with my folks about our travels and the countries we've seen turned into "Well, it's nice you could see the earth Jehovah created for us before Jehovah brings to ruin those ruining the earth. Soon it will all be destroyed by Jehovah. So see the earth's beauty before it's gone." (That made no sense!) Followed by "Oh sweety, we pray for you every day." I pray for them too, because they're getting old and the "friends" don't come around much any more. I pray they figure it out pretty soon but it would break their hearts so I bite my tongue.

nightmares after leaving
by myownlife inhello everyone, i have been reading the different topics and haven't seen this discussed..... i was raised in the 'truth' and decided when i was 19 this was not for me...but unfortunately it took years after that to finally make the clean break.
during that time and up until about a year ago, i was having strange and disturbing nightmares..it finally came to a head when i dreamed that i cussed out the elders in the congregation i had left.,..woke up in a sweat but felt great!
has anyone else experienced this?

I had a lot of frightening "demon dreams." Also I often dreamed my parents would come by my house, shove me in the backseat of their car, and force me to go in servic with them. I'd be frantically digging in my purse for my cellphone to have my husband come rescue me!

Working for a JW, what a horrible experience...
by HappyGuy inone of the things that made me start doubting the wtbts and jws was the way jws treat their jw employees.. i worked for jws several times.
the experience was always the same.. 1. pay was less than the going market rate for the same work at "worldly" companies.. 2. there were no benefits of any kind, no paid holidays, no sick time, no overtime, no insurance.. 3. whenever possible the jw forced the jw employees to pay their own company related expenses like gas, pager, company uniform, etc.. 4. any attempt to discuss the poor working conditions was always responded to with "but you get to make all the meetings and you get to go to the assemblies and you get to work for brothers.
" and, if you said "i would go to meetings regardless of who i worked for" and pushed back on that answer then they started in on your "loyalty" and you were unspritual if you questioned a "brother" and were not "loyal" to your employer.. 5. any attempt to find another job was met with harassment, being told you could not give the jw employer as a reference, being threatened with lawsuits, etc.. 6. the jw employers themselves were lazy and would not do the things they expected of their jw employees.. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------.

I had an elder work for me. He'd wait till the vacation picks were finished and then demand time off for assemblies. Someone else already had that week but he'd kick up a fuss and demand "religious accomodation." Why didn't he put in for assembly weeks when it was his turn to pick? Eventually our labor department said we had to give it to him so there was no trouble. What a pain he was and everybody thought he was a real jerk! Some said if that was how people from the Kingdom Hall acted, they'd never go there because of him.

my beard looks good
by rockmehardplace insince my fade, i have decided to do what all jw men and some jw women do.
i have grown a beard.
i have more compliments on it from people i work with and come in contact with than ever before.

LeavingWT, that beard looks good on you. It's neat and trimmed and fits your face. What on earth is so wrong with it? Oh never mind; if the Old Buzzards say beards are bad, that's that. They are sooo silly!
