  page 24 the governing body makes the following statement.

  "when christ "inspected the faithful and discreet slave in 1918, he found those annointed ones on earth (joseph rutherford and his associates) to be faithful in providing spiritual food at the proper time.

  Its funny that they say they were"providing spiritual food at the proper time" when he inspected them in 1918.

  What I would like to know is, exactly what do they teach NOW that they taught THEN.

  No hellfire

  No immortal soul

  That's all folks.

  Jesus obviously wasn't very picky about what spiritual food they were feeding. If you now believed that pyramid shit they taught back then, and that Christ's return was in 1874 and that Russell was the Faithful and Discreet slave, you would be disfellowshipped in about 10 minutes.

  lost christ?if a non-witness were to read this headline, what do you think it would convey?.

  wouldn't it imply that the magazine or website was actually bemoaning the growing secularisation of a "christian" festival, much like the slogans we see of late "put christ back into christ-mas"?

  For 45 years as a witness, I would tell people, "Yes, I know that J E H O V A H is NOT the correct pronunciation of the Name of God. What is important is not the EXACT pronunciation, but the fact that you use his name in the pronunciation that is COMMONLY ACCEPTED IN YOUR LANGUAGE.

  NOW, with reference to the birth of Christ, I say, "yes, I know that Jesus was not born on December 25th. What is important, is not the date that we acknowledge as his date of BIRTH, but the fact that WE ACKNOWLEDGE HIS BIRTH ON THE COMMONLY ACCEPTED DATE IN OUR COUNTRY.

  I have one son out of my four kids that is still trapped.

  He wont listen to me or talk to me.

  He wont come out now. Possibly with the doctrinal changes he will start thinking. But, it is doubtful.

  I think most people only come out when they start getting treated like ship and finally realize it.

  after an informal poll in my congregation (and many awkward responses) i found out that almost nobody had read the whole bible ever, not even the elders (surprise!).

  brothers and sisters with 20, 30, 40 and 50 years as jws don't know what the bible says.

  so, if god decides that a test is coming, will they pass it?

  i'm looking for ex witnesses from the sulphur springs, tx congregation.

  i was a teenager when we were a part of the congregation there which was from from about 1983-1888.

  Sulphur Springs is about 60 miles NE of Dallas.

  I was in Gladewater Texas during that time. It was SE of Sulphur Springs about 50 miles.

  This is dummy here.

  Somewhere back in the recesses of my mind I remember that Memorial can come as early as the first part of March, and as late as April 17. There is definitely a problem this year if Passover is April 19.

  The Jews, by observation of the new moon in Jerusalem were supposed to add an Intercalary Month, Veadar, or second adar 7 times every 19 years. It would seem to me that this year they should not have added the intercalary month to establish Nisan 14 so late.

  The reality is that the WT uses its own, and sadly probably correct, method of determining when the nearest full moon to the spring equinox rises OVER Jerusalem, not over the US.

  Keeping in mind too that the days in Israel start in the evening, therefore throwing us most of a day off every year, and sometimes a day off. The moon is not full the same day around the world, but there is the lag of the full moon. Possibly it is put off a day because the moon, while full here in the US on the 19th, was not quite full in Jerusalem until OUR 20th.

  Sorry I can't be plain. But it isn't easy.

  My guess is the WT is right, regardless of the modern Jewish Calendar.

  Don't get me wrong, I am not an apologist for them, as I hate the WT with all my heart. But, I do think they have this figured out.

  I sure can't explaing the Jewish modern calendar date though. My guess is that its incorrect this time.

  Your quote from the Proclaimers is fascinating.

  The 'play on words' is deafening. They are trying to teach the 2nd coming of Christ in 1914, without saying that he really became earth's King in that year. I had never noticed how concisely they cut Jesus out of this earthly rulership.

  The next couple of paragraphs in the proclaimers even further confuses the issue. Really and truly, no one of the average Jehovah's Witnesses REALLY know what is being taught about the year 1914.

  The way they word everything gives them specific deniability, but in general we all got the jist that Jesus RETURN was in 1914, while nothing is further from their truth. AMAZING--CAN'T BELIEVE IT.

  By 1914, the faithful pre-Christian servants of God had not been resurrected on earth as princely representatives of the Messianic King, as had been expected, nor had the remaining ones of the "little flock" joined Christ in the heavenly Kingdom in that year. Nevertheless, TheWatchTower of February 15, 1915, confidently stated that 1914 was the due time "for our Lord to take up His great power and reign," thus ending the millenniums of uninterrupted Gentile domination. In its issue of July 1, 1920, TheWatchTower reaffirmed that position and associated it with the good news that Jesus had foretold would be proclaimed earth wide before the end.   You are doing a terrific job in your research re global cooling.

  I am 61 years old and also remember during the 50's and 60's there was talk of a global cooling and a coming Ice Age.

  But, DAN, I can't prove it. All I can say is that scientific study is in dispute over global warming. Dan did you ever read "State of Fear" by Michael Crichton?

  I think what we are all observing is a common global temperature "fluctuation". Probably has to do with solar activity. Local warming has to do with concrete and cities and roads.

  But Dan, all they can come up with is .06 of a Degree C at the very most. The arctic is warming a little, the Antarctic is cooling and forming more bergs. What the heck.

  I am so unscientific I look stupid, but coffee is putting her research where her mouth is.
