i just wanted to take a minute and express the appreciation i feel for this place.
simon and angharad, thanks to you two for putting up with the crap necessary to keep this place available to disenfranchised outcasts like me.
also, thanks to the forum administrators who work to keep the place relatively cordial and welcoming.. but really, this forum would be nothing without the posters.
Auld soul,
And a kind 'thank you' to you too.

Please read this short experience: ABOUT TWO YEARS AGO AT A CIRCUIT ASSEMBLY, OUR CIRCUIT OVERSEER, FRED CUA, WAS GIVING AN EXPERIENCE ABOUT A GROUP OF ELDERS THAT WENT TO A HOSPITAL TO VISIT A DYING BROTHER. AFTER SOME SMALL TALK, THE DYING BROTHER TOLD BROTHER CUA THAT HE WISHES HE WOULD HAVE USED HIS LIFE MORE FOR THE KINGDOM THAN HOW HE USED IT, FOR WORK AND TO GAIN ECONOMIC SECURITY FOR HIS FAMILY. HE SAID THAT HE WISHED HE WOULD HAVE TAKEN MORE OF A LEAD IN THE SERVICE AND AT THE HALL FOR HIS FAMILY. HE THEN ASKED, "WHAT HOPE IS THERE FOR ME?" BROTHER CUA THEN STATED TO THE CIRCUIT ASSEMBLY AUDIENCE, "WHAT COULD I POSSIBLY SAY TO HIM THAT WOULD COMFORT HIM. HE JUST WASTED HIS LIFE, THAT WAS THAT, I COULD SAY NOTHING TO HIM TO ENCOURAGE HIM." End of experience. Dear ones, believe me on this one, it is true, I heard it myself, and I walked out of the meeting. My family also was livid. I almost screamed, and now I wish I would have. What the hell was he doing at the hospital in the first place if it wasn't to comfort the brother? If you're going to count your time with the dying person, at least lie to them you schmuck! This experience was told at Kemper Arena about 2 years ago at our circuit assembly. What a bastard. I'm still incensed. I hope that CUA has this one come home to visit him. Self-righteous, arrogant little shit that he is. Brant
i'm not kidding.
it has been less than two weeks since i discussed with an elder some of the problems i had about the wts.
one discussion.
In re to asking questions, here's the line I always get-- 'that is a flat out lie that you can't ask questions, I ask questions all the time'. My jw fails to see that I you are not clear or do not accept the answers is where the problem lies. It is in not accepting the answers that gets you in trouble not the questions. He sees not accepting the elders answers as being weak or not submissive to the elders or fds, wait upon jah to correct, etc... Of course asking the 'wrong' kinds of questions will get you in trouble as well, if you even ask about the UN for example it would be obvious you have had some exposure to 'apostates' somewhere along the line.I'd rather have questions I can't answer than answers I can't question.
Carla,
Just want to thank you for that last comment! Sometimes just a few words means so much. Good job.

(Awake, 6-22-2000) Name-Calling
Some people insult those who disagree with them by questioning character or motives instead of focusing on the facts. Name-calling slaps a negative, easy-to-remember label onto a person, a group, or an idea. The name-caller hopes that the label will stick. If people reject the person or the idea on the basis of the negative label instead of weighing the evidence for themselves, the name-caller’s strategy has worked.
Soon as they call you an apostate, everyone is under obligation to DISMISS you.
That's exactly what they did to me.
Keep up the good work Drew.

according to webster's an oxymoron is a combination of contradictory or incongruous words.
here's an opportunity to add some of your favorite ones.
i'll start it off.. why are a "wise man" and a "wise guy" opposites?.

not sure if it is the correct terminology, but i've heard of a few instances where the society had to step in and completely "delete" a congregation because of issues with incompetent elders and out of control publishers.
i've never heard specifics.
does this actually happen?
I believe that Bonham, Texas was one of such congregations.
What I heard is that the BOE were the majority of the trustees, and they not only left the Society, but they took the KH with them.
the Society then went into the territory and did a QB, for around 10 or so Publishers.
Makes you wonder now who the faithful ones really were.

lawsuits?
internet?
higher education?.
What do you think the Watchtower is most afraid of?Their own teachings. That's obvious.
Another home run.
Keep up the good work, Gary!!

i stopped going out in service about a year ago.
just couldn't take it anymore.
after that, i still continued "studying" with my kids and "counting the time" for that.
under believer,
thanks for the reply to my post.
I understand your situation and wish you the very best.
I'm angry too.

i was directed to this site by a very kind ex-witness who runs a christian ministry in california.
there are no words to express how thankful i am to be here.. here is what i hope (key word) will be an abbreviated version of my story: i am 35 years old, single, the only child of jw parents who had already spent over ten years in various watchtower capacities (two of those years as gilead missionaries in guatemala) before i was born.
my father was diagnosed with brain cancer when i was 11 and finally succumbed, after a valiant fight, when i was 14. among the first doubts or questions i remember having was how a god of 'love' could just passively ignore the persecution (malawi!!!
Welcome,
I was in prison for draft evasion on Mt. Lemon at the Federal Youth Camp in the Catalina Mountains. I also lived not far from you in Gila Bend when I was growing up.
but, that was a long time ago in a Galaxy far far away.
I am glad you're here. I hope the healing that I have felt here also helps you.
I live a long ways from you in Kansas, but hope you are able to find local friends and help.
