hey i've been studying jehovah's witness beliefs but i had a question, how does anyone know who the 144,000 are?

if you could respond with what you know that would be great.

Don't know for sure. Lots of ex witnesses and hurt people. Quite a few that are pretty dirty mouthed. Lots of sacreligious people too. Lots of people have been hurt bad by JW's and are really angry.

if you could rent a bill board where you knew jehovah's witnesses would see it, what would you put on it to try to effectively reach them?

and don't forget that lots of other people would see it to.

maybe the regular joe would be able to develope some good questions from your ad too.

Getting Busted w/ Love Letters

love letters were the demise for many of the kids in congregations that i attended growing up..... i know i ended up in the library/back room several times for this (hopless romantic/ sagitarius) even put on public reproof for it.

(though i believe it was my dad's idea to have the elders put me on public reproof so that he could have more control over me).

There is a scripture in Romans the 8th chapter that states, "God's Spirit bears witness with our spirit that we are God's children". Those who partake of the new covenant emblems among JWs feel that is the verse that gives them the "sense" or feelin that they have been adopted as children of God.

Everyone else is warned not to partake of the emblems representing the blood and body of Christ, as they would be "drinking death to themselves" because they are not adopted as God's children.

This teaching denies the many verses in the Bible that teach Jesus gave his life a ransom for all who would believe in him. the problem that JW's have is that they believe that only those go to heaven that are in the new covenant, a position that I now consider a false teaching. Jesus made the covenant for a kingdom AFTER the Last Supper, (Lord's Evening Meal).

If Christ is your saviour, partake of the memorial emblems, whether or not you are one of the 144,000, which I also believe and have believed for decades that it is a symbolic number.

i am wondering, what made all of us different?

to explain.

obviously most all of us here were at one time brainwashed and endoctrinated with the rest of the rank and file of jw's.

I think the reason we were so involved in the WT work so deeply and for so long is that we truly believed that we had won life's lottery. Six and more billion people on the earth and we found the truth. What a deal. Who would not be attracted to the teachings of the Bible on paradise and everlasting life. Then we came in to an association of people that really felt secure in that we were right! Everyone else is wrong. We were arrogant in our view of other persons who simply claimed to be Christians but of course were not.

We encouraged others to examine their religions and make the changes necessary to bring their life into conformity with Jehovah's will. Some of us even were true to ourselves enough that we would not ask others to do what we wouldn't do ourselves, that is, examine our religion. So we did. And here we are. They didn't measure up either.

The 1995 change re the generation and the UN deal put the hammer on me. In addition to a statement in a 1997 WT that ...Jehovah would never reject us!........... I knew from the 80's that some fish stunk in Denmark. Just took 20 years to break loose. Thank Jehovah we heard about the UN deal. That was gross.
