  Why Do Some "JWs" Do This???..........

  i know of some witnesses that haven't go out in service or attended a meeting in years.

  most "new ones" (to them and they could be witnesses for 10 years!

  ) that live in the territory have no clue of these "witnesses".

  BB: I have always thought these were the saddest, most tortured souls. And yet, at the same time - kind of disgusting - pod-people - with no will of their own and self-loathing. I beleive that they are people who just cannot do the JW thing

  Well, this is my opinion from observing folks who are straddling the fence and fall into the category I describe - many in my own family. Certainly not condemning them.

  Didn't Joe Hober say that "neither hot nor cold, but lukewarm - I will spew them out of my mouth"? Something like that.

  What did you take with you when you left the organization?

  leaving the organization, it is like packing for a journey you can choose what you take with you, and what you leave behind (other than people).

  there are things i chose to take with me.

  for example, i have used the sales training to my advantage over the years.

  I give hour long presentations now for my job with no notes whatsoever, and I don't get the least bit nervous. I actually think it's fun.

  Coffee, I think you would have had the ability to do well in any circumstances. You are good at what you do in spite of the WTS, not because of it. IMHO.

  I took with me an aversion to dimwitted men in cheap suits who by day toil as janitors and by night are throwing about the power and control that they can't obtain in the real world in a real organization of any merit or substance because they are in fact -- dimwits.

  Why do you suppose Joe Hober would make us all with such varying intellects and then make truth so complex that it requires shelf after shelf of little brightly colored books to explain it? Add to that that some of the little books stop being the truth and have to be replaced by new ones on a regular basis? That rascal Joe Hober! What a nut!

  it's like they hope that being faithful in large things will make up for not being faithful in little things.

  These poor saps would almost rather die on the table for lack of blood and get it over with than get up and give a talk or go in field service for 30 years. I can understand that - sometimes I'd rather have died, too, I hated doing those things so much.

  gay people don't put straight people down or refuse to go see movies about them, or root for them to succeed in marriage and with their kids even though all these things are totally foreign to our experience as humans. we don't mind you being who you are and being happy, even while at the same time many of you don't hope the same for us.

  JoelBare: This is so not true! Lookit how much $$ BBMountain is making! Do you think that is all gay $$? NO! I refuse to go see many movies - most of them star Sylvester Stallone or Arnold Schwarzenegger - two notoriously hetersexual actors! So there! And I want gay people to be happy, I really do.

  Others believe, but fade, too. IMO - I have always thought these were the saddest, most tortured souls. And yet, at the same time - kind of disgusting - pod-people - with no will of their own and self-loathing. I beleive that they are people who just cannot do the JW thing - the speaking, going in FS, comments, interacting with congo and overbearing elders - just can't hack it.
  These are the people who are emotionally tied-in, but were never intellectually up to it.

  How sad! I had just recently looked up some of his posts because he seemed such a gentle soul and his posts conveyed such thoughtfulness and kindness. Such a handsome guy, too - what a waste! But the pain must have been overwhelming. The damage of the WTS to the psyche extends further than we realize sometimes.

  Just a thought - would it be possible to gather these threads together and print them out for his daughters? Maybe even editing out the WTS bashing parts? Just the stuff about Ari and what he meant to us all?
