  Need something remotely solid

  hello everything, it has occurred that time passed and now i choose to post a new message to hopefully enlighten you with my miracelous presence.. seriously, since i last posted a real message i continued associating with jw's.

  Overheard at the Service Meeting

  this week's service meeting had a part about how wonderful and awesome the theocratic ministry school is.

  Is a sexually promiscuous life style linked to depression or insecurity?

  i work in an environment at work that is a mix of adult ranging in age from 18-50. there are 300 plus people in the building, and that means you get a lot of soap operas happening from people sleeping with other people's girlfriends, boyfriends and even people cheating on their spouses with people they work with.

  among the bunch is a large group of people who spend a lot of time passing themselves around, and sampling many sexual partners.

  of the people who i know, i have often found that many do not seem as happy as one might think.

  my finance and girlfriend of 5 years broke up with me about three weeks ago. Yes that is depressing, but I'm doing well. I just see this as an opportunity to get some of that tail that I couldn't have when I was in a monogamous relationship. Sort of a wild fucking spree if you would.

  This kind of supports what has been said about depression and insecurity leading to promiscuity. It also brings up another contributing factor - anger.

  Depression can exist without promiscuity. Insecurity can exist without promiscuity. But I don't think promiscuity can exist without both insecurity and depression, especially for women.

  By that, I mean, we are all insecure to some extent, but we don't all look to remedy our feelings of insecurity by actively seeking out responses to shore up our worth as sexual objects. This kind of attention is a "fix" that lasts about 5 minutes and then the hunger returns to find the next "fix." Until one faces the underlying causes and issues, the cycle continues and is increasingly destructive.

  Sadly, there are a couple of women on this forum who are very clearly in this category with all the resultant acting out that demonstrates it. Women in our culture are so very vulnerable and susceptible to this syndrome because our worth is so tied in with our physical appearance and our perceived availability as sexual objects. To be loved for who you are, not what you look like, or your availability as a sexual partner, is what we all want. Promiscuity is about seeking reassurance of our lovability based upon very shallow, fleeting values. It's like trying to satisfy a deep hunger for solid food with a meal of marshmallows.

  Strange Habits You Realised You Have

  i recently realised i have a strange habit that's been noticed by others: i look in people's fridges when i'm over at their house.

  it's just a reflex action, and i only recently became aware of it.. what strange habits have you discovered that you didn't realise you had?.

  I "write" words in the air with my fingers - unobtrusively - you wouldn't know what I'm doing if you were standing next to me.

  I unconsciously end up with exactly one bite of each thing on my plate - 1 bite steak, 1 bite potato, 1 bite broccoli - which I then try to get on the fork for one last, big bite!

  Tell me I'm not the only one who does these things..............?

  Are "Apostates" jumping the gun with their info on the WT to make a case?

  i take some of the things apostates say with a "grain of salt" because many times i think they embellish the truth to make the wt look bad to make their case.

  for example i have for years heard that the wt uses "satanic" images in their artwork but i have yet to see any proof of these accusations.

  i have heard that jw's no longer practice "disfellowshipping" but my teenage niece was recently "disfellowshipped".

  This is done everywhere, especially in advertising "Florence K says she lost 35lbs in 3 weeks...". In telling such tales with no hard evidence JW's mearly mirror the world in which they live.

  jringe: Nope. Uh-uh. Not having it.

  You see, the WTS painted themselves into a corner a long time ago with that line of reasoning. They claim to be God's chosen people, bearing his name. Set apart from the world. Not partaking in the ways of the world. Better, if you will. Adhering to strict tenents of honesty. Guiding by God's Holy Spirit. Does the word "truth" ring a bell? Do you honestly think that the WTS would agree that they reflect the same standards of truthfulness as..........wait for it ...................... drumroll............... ...................................ADVERTISING!!!!!!??????
