Twenty-some years ago I was working at a local hospital and found that one of my colleagues was a young Dubbie lad. I took a coffee break with him and gave him an info sheet of questions regarding the WTS. Within 24 hours, my JW aunt had contacted the elders saying that I was "standing out in front of St. Francis hospital distributing apostate literature to everyone."

Somehow I wriggled my way out of being DF'd. Lied, prolly.

Is it time for apostasy to get organised?

i like things the way they are right now.

the watchtower are never sure which direction the next 'assualt' will come from and we often get the jump on them.

but i was wondering if, in addition to all the solo efforts, it might be time to set up something a little more permanent.. i know that my disfellowshipping is only a matter of time - perhaps months - and when it happens i'll have the freedom to act in a way that i cannot risk at present.

How about a private organization that is unhindered by non-profit laws that can operate openly doing research and information dissemination directly counter to the WTS? This is how Bible Research and Commentary started over twenty years ago - I was there at its inception, but wanted a more aggressive approach to actually bringing down the WTS, rather than support services.

I think a working mission statement would be a good start. I personally am not so much interested in a support group for ex-dubs (JWD serves quite well in that capacity) - but in a strategic plan to harness power directed against the WTS for the purpose of bringing it DOWN - hum baby!

Thanks, Jourles, for that link. Yes, it was similar, but without the poster-board - just standing racks of JW literature and two bozos sitting at a card table wearing suits in 90 degree weather. As I recall now, the WT and Awake were not prominent - probably trying to downplay the connection with the door-to-door work since most people identify JWs by the mags. Sneaky!

I guess I've been out too long, cause this surprised me. I was visiting my mom recently in Modesto, California and was walking into a Walmart (hey! we don't have one where I live!) and there were two guys in suits, sitting outside the front doors behind a large display rack of literature. They were chatting with each other, but as I stepped closer to see if this was indeed JW material, they said hello, as if to engage me in conversation. Is this the new way to witness? Weird!
