My only point here is that Stafford should be allowed the dignity of his own conscience and his own decision making. Who are we to find fault?
IW: As magoo alluded to, Mr. Stafford has compromised his own dignity and conscience already - and he has made himself a 'public figure' - therefore he, his motives, his marketing techniques, his mental status, etc., are all fair game for discussion. i was reading about minimus' trip to the hospital and his telling them that he "used to be a jw" but he would take blood now if needed.. it got me to thinking; i don't like telling people that i used to be a jw.
that's in my past and i prefer to keep it there.
if asked about my upbringing or religious preference, i usually just comment on being brought up in a strict religion but i got over it..and then try to change the subject.
I just know they are thinking: "What a dumbass".

how do you make them reflect that it is possible that they are wrong about the bible track society?
anything you say they alway twist it around anyways with their prepared answers.

Working methodically and logically, tie them up with some heavy rope around the ankles and then around the chair legs, arms behind their backs. Place heavy-duty duct-tape over their mouths. Allow reasonable bathroom breaks, but they should bring their own food in a paper bag, an NO SEAT SAVING!

Likewise. I am embarrassed to have ever been a Dub. Sometimes, however, it is hard to explain the first 23 years of my life and some of my choices without mentioning JWs.
since realising that this organisation doesn't have the truth, i've started to notice a lot of hypocritical statements from other jw's.
they criticise others for doing the same things they do, though they don't seem to realise it.
as i'm still a part of this organisation, it makes it very frustrating for me to hear these things, and not be able to shout out about their hypocrisy.
Who here has been stabbed in the back and betrayed completely by a "brother" or "sister"?

hi all, ive been disfellowshipped 11 years, and ive blindly went through life, but with in the past 5 years, getting married, having kids, ive started to want to learn of god.i feel being raised in the jw's i wasnt ever taught, and what i did learn was force fed, and i dont think it was 100% truth.truth to them, but not exactally biblical.
anyhow, ive started doing my research , im reading the book of john now, and its pretty amazing, mind u im reading some verses over and over, to make sure i am understanding them, but it feels great.
great to know i can freely read my bible, of my choosing, and benifit on my own.ofcourse, i think its freaking my husband out, he knows ill never be a jw, (its a cult ,i feel)and a holy roller im not.
Praise God! I am so happy that you are searching for Him. You're doing exactly the right thing. God wants us to want him and look for him, on our own because we want to, not because someone tells us to. What you're doing will develope the best relationship with him. Keep it up. I'm proud of you!

You might come at it from the perspective of, 'what need are you looking for religion to fill?'
If you are looking for solace, fellowship and uplifting thoughts - you may want to avoid the extremist religions and look at a Unity-type church.
If you want explanations - try metaphysics. You'll find a lot of speculation, and some answers, but don't count on them being right, either.
Unfortunately, having been in a dogmatic sect like JW acclimates one to expecting 'certainty' about God, what we should do, what to expect. I believe that there is no real certainty, we just hope that this is a benevolent universe and that there is a 'plan.'
