  It was this guy I was dating (non-Jdub) at the end of last year that got me to really start thinking (I had begun dating a "worldly" guy in the first place because I was already starting to think twice about things). He was asking questions about my religion and as I was explaining them, several times he just busted out laughing. I was hurt at the time, but now everyday I see more and more how ridiculous it all sounds.

  That is exactly how it happened for me 30+ years ago - when you try to explain this stuff to someone on the outside, you realize how totally laughable it is...............

  some years ago, when the 'voluntary donation' arrangement was announced, the society followed it up with a period of near panic.. they flooded the kingdom ministry, watchtower and circuit assemblies with pleas "reminding" the friends to open up their wallets.. eventually, they calmed down and accepted the situation, especially after coming up with new scams involving "deficits" at assemblies.

  and appeals for property being willed to them.. .

  it is with this background that i note a burst of emphasis about porn.

  It seems to me that JR Brown is giving away lots of confidential information about the Cano DFing,,, way too much to still come under eccliastical priviledge. He has already called him guilty as charged, without any trial as far as I can see.

  Good question. Do you think ol' JRB was shooting from the hip? Was Cano really DF'd that quickly, without an opportunity to defend his filthy self?

  It certainly made a nice soundbite for JRB - 'Cano is no longer a minister of JWs." More Theocratic Warfare?

  jw's teach that jesus began ruling from heaven 'invisibly' in 1914. if no one knows the day or the hour the son of man will arrive - then how is it justified that jesus began his 'invisible ruling' from heaven in 1914?

  I dont think its about porn. Its about keeping dubs off the internet at any cost. "Porn" is just a bogey-man they are using to hide their true agenda: keeping the R+F as far away from "free apostate" information as possible. They are probably hoping to convince the R+F that everytime they open their browsers they will be subject to XXX popping up on their screens at every turn. They would be very hesitant to directly tell them to stay away from apostate websites, since there is nothing more tempting than forbidden fruit.

  Bingo! It's just another brainwashing - make folks feel guilty about even using a computer. I agree - the real target is the free-flow of apostate information. People don't leave the WTS because of porn.

  i made one of my rare appearances to the sunday meeting today...and really picked a doozy for a talk to have to sit through!

  misery loves company, its said, so i'm sharing the latest on "serving with jehovah's unified organization" (please bear with me..... the speaker(who was actually quite entertaining with his illustrations and props!

  ) opened up with a definition of belonging to an organization: it was, he said "complete conformity by a person to the standards and requirements of an organization"....then he used the example of how any org will kick out a member who chooses not to follow the standards and requirements of the organization...but in fact, in j's org they kick themselves out!

  One cannot think that it is ok to just read their Bible, be a good person, and claim to love God....its NOT enough, one must bring themselves completely in line with the standards and requirements that J's org has set....
