i just got back from a church talent show that my cousin was in.
but when i hear songs such as " open the eyes of my heart lord" , " i can only imagine" or "jesus take the wheel" why does it make me want to run for the hills?
i hard the hardest time enjoying the song and ignoring the words.
I really like those songs by themselves but coupled with people raising their hands around looking like zomblies or lunatics makes me barf too.
I prefer a much more "traditional" service with an organ, choir .. the like. Sometimes the choir can sing songs so beautiful they make my heart swell up with joy -- a much different feeling than the "being in the midst of zombies" feeling.
But I'm sure you don't share my view -- i just wanted you to know that they make even some Christians barf.
right now i am so furious and sick and i need some serious advice and help.
i got a call from my son at ft. hood, tx last night and we talked for an hour.
i noticed something in his voice, but i thought everything was cool.
I have a friend that was in the military for years and years -- I asked him and here is what he said:
He alone must report the incident. You as mom can't get involved especially if your son doesn't want to go to the authorities about it.
He said that it may be beneficial to go to his commanding officer about it and it may not be. It depends on if he knows exactly the 10 who did it or not. And it depends on if he thinks making a report will make it harder or easier on him. He said that he needs to remember that he may be in war with these guys one day and he needs to do what he can to have good relations with them if he can. Your son needs to do what he can to make things easy for him in the future.
I know it must be hard to see your son like this. I hope you all come up with the perfect solution.

since the topic i've done a bit of research with regards to adoption agencies in south africa.
very sad to report that there aren't that many.
the amount of orphans, a staggering 2.5 million, only 2 600 children were adopted last year!!!!
Can you look into foreign adoptions? There is a lot to be frustrated about when it comes to adoption. Even in the US, it is a subject causing lots of tears to those involved. I know it must be hard -- I've seen what a lot of people have been through in the adoption process.

well, not yet, but if the governing body decides that it's okay to celebrate christmas and birthdays .... how do you suppose the typical jw would feel ... especially those who lived their whole life being told to not celebrate and.

hi when i watch tv esp american tv shows about the bible belt and amish communities, just wondered if anyone out there lived near those areas and did you door to door witness and was it easy??.

I live in the Bible belt.
I have never been door to door up north so I have nothing to compare it to. Usually we liked the territories where people were black because they would be nice and just take the literature. They would take it as long as you kept coming and we loved working those territories. A lot of times if we did anything, it would be to spark their interest in God again and they would start attending church. I remember my grandma saying, "I have a hard time starting Bible studies but I sure have sent a lot of people back to church!" There were many who were mean or hid but that wasn't the usual or what was expected.
The white people would either hide or challenge your doctrine. I remember one man who knew so much about the BIble that he basically "won" the conversation. It stunned me and was one of the reason I left the organization. I imagine it is a lot easier to find people to talk to in the Bible belt about the Bible. The difference is that they usually view you as heretical and will listen to you just to challenge you. You are usually scared to death you will knock on the door of a preacher. The white people who fell out of the stereotype were searching for something and would study long enough to figure out this wasn't what they wanted. It usually happened about the time they would pressure them to go out in service or attend all 3 meetings.
We also liked little old ladies because they were lonely and just liked the company. They would try to change the subject to gardening and their familes. We would go to the same house week after week to talk to them about how the tomatoes were doing just to count time. If you did bring it back to the Bible, they would talk like they never read a single WatchTower.
It's all in what you choose to believe.
i heard a woman being interviewed on a radio station this morning and thought this would be an interesting subject to discuss !
in the interview this woman stated that , " men many times only hug you or touch when they want to have sex .
if more men saw that holding hands in public, or the need to reach out to touch a woman affectionately outside of the bedroom , put your arm around her casually- without any expectations , more men would end up in the bedroom later with a woman who feels she has been loved throughout the day !
I want my husband! He is freaking perfect! My friends say he should teach classes.
Here's why in no certain order:
He washes the clothes and cleans the dishes after supper.
He is amazing in bed and gives me lots of orgasms.
He asks me what's wrong when I'm looking down.
He has a committment to spending at least an hour a day with me. (Sometimes it sitting on a stool while I cook or chopping up an onion .. or sometimes it's going with me to the grocery store.)
He never looses his temper. (which means I never loose mine)
He makes twice as much $$ as I do but is really thrifty and responsible with it.
He buys me flowers on my birthday/anniversaries/valentine's even when I tell him not to.
It's the tennis shoes that get me. What woman would wear that for style? Any woman who would wear tennis shoes with a dress obviously has foot problems.
