  Congrats on the baby. Even though you could show them all the evidence in the world about how many times the WTS has cried wolf about the end ( starting with 1914 being the end when they taught the Jesus returned in 1874 ) They just wont buy it. My own sister hung up the phone on me when I started to tell her about the UN scandal. She flat out said it never happened. How do deal with that when they are so brainwashed not even to discuss issues? Hang in there. Hopefully hubby will find other work soon.

  pastor charles taze russells wife, maria, divorced him in 1906. the writings of maria russell e-document contains an eleven-page enlightening introduction that outlines her fall from her husbands affection because he said she was endeavoring to take over the editorship of his religious journal, zions watch tower.

  is that true?

  also discussed is the question of mrs. russells acumen as a writer which her husband and followers called into question.

  Great work Barb. Wonder if Charles had any origianl ideas of his own. Seems like he took most of his ideas from other groups such as the Adventists and the Christadelphians. Makes one wonder?

  and who previously went to any of the congregations in the saratoga county, schenectadycounty, albany county congregations.during my witness years i attended the ballston spa cong ,saratoga cong.

  Was there ever a GOOD time to be a JW?

  considering the history of the "organization", and how beliefs, practices and attitudes have changed through time, was there ever any time that a "international bible student" or jw was relatively more enlightened or had more freedoms than members of other religions?

  or have they always been enslaved to one set of superstitious beliefs or another, to a greater degree than most other religions?

  For me it was the early 70's. Lets face it, we all believed that it was the truth, and that the end was in sight. So we all did our best to please God the WTS. After 1975 things just started to unravel. I still loved the Dunkin Donut stops during service though.

  Being Shunned

  i knew this day was coming but i thought somehow there might be a loophole.. i had my "last supper" with my daughter on monday.

  i am disfellowshipped, her father and i are divorced, he is a witness, she lives with him and will be 18 on sunday the 5th.

  therefore as a baptized witness, she can no longer visit me and must keep communication to the bare minimum.

  SadFox, My heart goes out to you. I have my 2 daughters still living with me. I cant even imagine how I would react if they shunned me. We here on the board feel your pain. Many , many are in your same shoes. Please remember that this is the WT rule, not yours. Hopefully someday they will see the WT for what it really is and come back to you. Never give up hope.

  Religulous with Bill Maher…I just saw it

  i dont post much at all any more but i had to mention this, i just got back from seeing religulous and cant remember the last time i laughed so hard.

  it was great!!!!!!

  close-minded religious people should save their money and not go see this movie but instead give your money to the next tv evangelist or street magician you see.
