The real story: Is your congregation stagnant, dwindling or thriving?
by truthseeker inwith the 2007 service year stats out one could be forgiven for thinking that wt's problems are over, the child abuse settlement an itch in their bethel backside and the blood issue a minor annoyance.. if the truth were known, it is probably that more often than not, congregations are in decline, attendance is poor and few new recruits are not already jw family members.. so, if you know how your congregation is doing, if you have the pulse of your hall, let us know.. .
my congregation (which shall remain nameless).
dwindling attendance at all meetings (around 80%).

Getting married too young
by freedomfighter inhave noticed an inevitable trend in australia.
(probably is all over the world).
as a jw u can't have sex before marriage right?

Was married at 20, because the end was so close. That was in 1959 it ended in divorce.
Now I have been married since 1986 and the end is still not here, but much happier in this one
because the WT. can no longer tell us how to live,

Respect-O-Meter
by purplesofa inwe all have a little guage in us that measures the amount of respect we have for ourselves, our enviroment, each other, etc, etc, .
we can set a certain criteria and in some cases our level of respect can fluctuate with new information we take in that is either negative or positive........creating plus or minuses in our respect-o-meter.
we can not like something but still respect it.. loss of respect for a person, idea, business, ourselves can be devestating.

Did You Stay In Because of the Fear?
by serotonin_wraith ingrowing up amongst jws, i saw the core beliefs as a threat.
be a jw, or die horribly.
but no one i knew ever admitted this, it was all about 'loving jehovah'.

Definitely FEAR kept me in since I was a child. I was afraid of armegeddon since I was about eight years old. I knew nothing else in all the years I was raised. I am so grateful to enjoy the freedom I now have and have had for the last 28 years. Life is good.

Re-introducing myself to JWD
by Reverend Warhawk ini'm gonna reintroduce myself (got a new nickname, the other one would've blown away my identity in, say, three seconds)...so some of this might read familiar to some people here:.
after a very, very slow process, thinking over things that were stored in a little box in a corner of my mind, i've finally confirmed all the doubts i've had about the society and about jehovah's witnesses.
i'm a 36 year-old man, work as a software developer, married, with two kids, ages 10 and 3. i was "born" in the organization.

A question for those who believe in God and the Bible....
by restrangled inhow do you feel about the gifts he gave us as humans?
don't you find it strange that the wbts or f&ds and other extremist religions would have their adherents believe he wants our entire lives spent in worship and preaching?.
all of us have been given special talents, gifts of special abilities such as art, humor, music, writing and so on.

Now you have left, are you donating more money to charities ?
by aligot ripounsous ini'm still a nominal jw, get literature at the hall, use the premises (power, heating etc.
) so that i feel that i have to bring a financial contribution to the organization.
however, i find the wts's constant calling for money, especially at this time of the year, rather irritating and as far as i'm concerned, it is utterly counter-productive since i think that i will donate less this year than in previous years.

I give about ten times more now than as a JW. It might just be that I am better off finacially then when I was raising a family as a dub.
