You cannot live forever in paradise on earth
by Gopher inthe watchtower society has, for about seven decades, been attracting new volunteer workers for its field ministry with the promise of life forever on a paradise earth.
even the titles of its main study books since 1968 bear the promise: the truth that leads to eternal life, you can live forever in paradise on earth, and knowledge that leads to everlasting life.
how logical is this hope that leads people to entrust the watchtower with their time, energy and worldly possessions?

Something I wonder.......
by DaveNwisconsin ina month ago my mother died.
she had been a witness for 40 years.
when she was sick she got me wondering if all the witnesses think that this system will come to an end in there lifetime and they won't have to go thru death?

My grandfather went to his grave thinking he would see the "end" in the seventies.
My parents also expected the end to come before they died (father 1988, mother 2000)
father 78 and mother 86 grandfather 93. I left the borg in 1980 and some of my children
shun me. As I have grand children and four great grandchildren, I see the trend changing
as most of the grand children are not buying into the lies of the W.T. This makes me
happy.

Here's a question.....
by Low-Key Lysmith in......for those of you who have family that still speaks to you on occasion, does it seem that they are always trying to update you on goings-on in the congregation?
my grandma, every time she calls (which isn't often), likes to say "brother or sister so-and-so were asking about you the other day".
or "brother so-and-so got disfellowshipped".

I havemore friends now than ever as a dub.
For anyone without I suggest joining various groups (religeous, volunteer, sports or whatever)
You will find a lot of nice friends out there. I know. These are friends I can trust unlike the j.dubs.

Re: guilt
From my own experiences and those of others I know time is the only remedy for guilt.
It takes a long time to deprogram your brain from all you have been taught. It was six years
after I left the borg before I started thinking on my own and let God back into my life.
It was 1980 when I left (not voluntarily) but today it has been a blessing in disguise.
If you have been out for five years it might be time to look into other faiths to fill the void, this will
also help you to overcome the guilt. There are a lot of loving people out in the (world). I wish this
site was around at the time I left. There is a lot of experience here that I appreciate 25 years later.
Stick close and welcome aboard.

To Qcmbr: I have to say you still have that witness mental attitude in which you believe
every thing they tell you. I take issue with your comment about good family values.
Families are supposed to have unconditional love for all members. I know if one of mine strayed
I would not cut them off (neither would Jesus) but I would work with them and show brotherly
love or parental love. Once they are shunned the door is closed to them. And I resent your
remark about LDS as I know many of them and they would not think of shunning their
family members. They also allow lifesaving blood transfusions, they will fight for their
country if called upon, so clean up your own act before condemning others,
