i was wondering the other day how many would drink if the kool-aid came out at a future meeting?

you know, they made an announcement that the faithfull and discreet slave had been told that we should all kill ourselves because jehovah did not see the need for us to endure through armageden.

i wonder....30 percent?

The latest WT said to expect the great tribulation around 1/5/07 and the safest place to be was Fairbanks Alaska. Which WT was this???????
This was just a joke everybody.

new biography of pastor russell.

ninety years ago the founder of the bible students, pastor charles taze russell, died.

the organization he established became fragmented and subject to strong personalities who felt they knew how to best continue his legacy.

this was just added to youtube...a news station video of the wtbts in ny.

notice the high $$$$ furnishings.

there are several comments by current jws who find the video "upbuilding".

They shouldnt have histoical buildings that need excessive amounts of authentic remodelling. For an organisation always begging for money why then deliberately buy listed buildings you know are going to cost a fortune to look after?
Its wicked and immoral to take poor peoples hard earned money and then spend it on chandaliers. How is that any different from any con man spending donated money on feathering their own nests?

Yeah well…I’m not real into the “shoulds” and “morality” of others’ behavior but…. Let’s say a building is donated in the area where the headquarters are… a walk for the Bethelites (like the Bossert and the Standish).

The JWs, however, must renovate it to historical standards and spend a bunch of money doing so. They still may end up with a beautiful building for less than they could have built a modest building from scratch.

My comment was only to inject the reality of having to meet certain externally enforced standards on their remodeling efforts to allow others to understand that perhaps the level of “opulence” was not necessarily the JWs’ idea. For example, look at 107 Columbia Heights which the JWs did build….looks nothing like the Bossert Hotel.

That restored 'palace' that has won awards is excessive for a religion that supposedly follows Jesus the carpenter.

Sometimes designated "historic" buildings must be restored to a certain standard. So, if the JWs are remodeling a building, they may have to meet externally imposed standards.

We called the Brooklyn Historical Society the Brooklyn Hysterical Society as they were very aware of any "non-authentic" remodeling.

I was told at the German branch that if there is a vacancy in rooms you can applie for it and your number of full-time service years go into the decision if you get it.

Yes, you "bid" on rooms based on seniority . If you don't have enough seniority to "win" a room you are simply assigned but....sometimes you can get a nice room that way.
