when i was going to meetings i raised a question at the book study when the daniel book was being covered.
when nebuchadnezzar had the image built all the people including all the rulers including the hebrew ones were commanded to bow to the image.
it was brought to the attention of neb that three hebrews had not bowed down and it resulted in them being saved from the feiry furnace by an angel.. my question was then, where was daniel?

the previous months i have done a lot of research about the wts and came to the conclusion that it is not the truth.
this however makes me think about what i still believe in.
is there a god?

Also some Roman historians are quoted who mention Jesus.
So it seems that you cannot deny that Jesus really existed and that he got a lot of people exicted enough to start a new religion.
Before you start clapping your hands and swaying to a Hillsong melody, I'd recommend you take a look at my thread about the Mankind's Search For God support for Jesus' human existance.
I'm not saying he didn't exist, but it's good to listen to all sides before forming a conclusion.

The Roman historian Suetonius (c. 69-140 C.E.), in his history The Twelve Caesars, stated regarding the emperor Claudius: "Because the Jews at Rome caused continuous disturbances at the instigation of Chrestus [Christ], he expelled them from the city."... Note that Suetonius expresses no doubt about the existence of Christ - Mankind's Search for God by WTS p.237
Suetonius' quote is not entirely bullet-proof though. Peacefulpete raised this in his recent thread ( http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/10/114957/1.ashx ) where he draws our attention to the fact that Chrestus doesn't necessarily mean "Christ" as many Christians would like to think. In fact he asserts that it doesn't mean a Christ, let alone Christ Jesus.
Does anyone know if there are other problems with this quote of Suetonius other than the Chrestus dispute?
Are there any other historical records to prove Jesus once lived?

one thing that always sucked about the kingdom hall was it's blandness.
bland wallpaper, bland paint, no pictures, no windows, maybe a fake plant or fake flowers, the big sign with the years text, the cork board, and contribution boxes.
boring.. what would you put into a kingdom hall to make it look more interesting?
Put comfy cushy chairs in the bathroom
My Mum once told me that there are such seats in some city congregation she visited in Japan. I have to see it to believe it.
I've heard nothing about "adult beverages" though. lol

I don't know if most JWs would expect Hitler to get a chance. I mean he did try to wipe out the Witnesses, so I was led to believe. Does anyone know better? Hitler's anti-JW stance wasn't made up by wannabe martyrs was it?

Oh and a lava lamp on the table on stage, gives us something to look at in the rare event that the talk is familiar to us.
Do you think a disco ball would be asking too much?

I'd like to put up framed certificates of a Degree in Zoology by the University of Awake! and a Degree in Theology by the Watchtower University up on the wall by the Literature counter.
