i'm not after a discussion on the rights or wrongs on abortion, what i'm asking is whether or not your views have evolved over time.. perhaps leaving the watchtower was enough to allow your true feelings on abortion to find expression.
maybe abortion is one of those subjects where you still find yourself in agreement with your old jw self.
did becoming a mother change your perspective in any way or solidify your views?.
Aside from the standard brainwashing I recieved as a dub that abortion was evil, since I was out and have the option of thinking for myself I have been pro-choice. As with most topics, abortion is not a simple black and white subject.
Personally I have no desire to have children ever and have the vasectomy to ensure that I never do. I have done my part, IMO it's a woman's right to make the decision that is right for her, no matter what that decision may be.

for those of you who know him, i just can't stop obsessing over this yet, and feel the urge to share, our lovable resident hippie (i can say that 'cause i mean it in a positive way and i adore him, so there), openfireglass, has shorn his dreads.
he gave himself a haircut yesterday and the dreadlocks are no more.. it was a surprise that i came home to after work yesterday.
I figured I oughta pop in and respond. The "what'd you do?" bit wasn't serious (I'm sure you got that). It seems like dreadlocks are a cyclical hairstyle. Everyone I've known to have dreads has shaved them at one time or another. Some grow them back, some do not. From what I know of OFG, I'm sure he's equally attractive with or without dreads and a beard.
I understand the can't-stop-staring response. About 10 years ago I messed up trimming my beard and eventually shaved the whole thing off. The babyfaced result was traumatic to me and the source of much curiosity to my gf at the time. Of course my very supportive friends laughing their asses off at my 12yr old look didn't help either. Since then I have never shaved my goatee off. It's become part of my look and identity. So, I can also understand OFG's reticence to appear on film after such a dramatic change in his looks. Give the guy a little time to adjust to the new look and regain his comfort zone and I'm sure he'll be much less stubborn/obstinate about having his pic taken.

I have to admit that the weight loss is only possible due to my iPod, the Hawthorne District of Portland and the new longboard. Living in the suburbs for a few years made me an almost entirely sedintary creature. Now that I live in Portland proper I can take full advantage of the city to make my lifestyle much more active.
Sorry to hear things are hectic for you and I hope you can get back to the activities that make you happy and healthy. I will make sure to look you and OFG up when I get off my azz and get to Cali
Edited to add: I had a conversation with one of my friends the other day regarding the skating. We both reached the conclusion that for me exercise has to be "accidental". ie I can't exercise for exercise sake, gyms don't work for me and I'm not driven enuf to stay on task. Give me a fun recreational activity that may leave me tired and sweaty and I'm all over it!
i've struggled with trying to believe in a god since i left the fold.

the latest lady liberty post about adam caused a lightbulb to go off...and i know you'll let me know if i'm wrong in my assessment.. all my life i've heard, "god cannot tell a lie" and "the bible is true.
God is the most widely circulated and shared imaginary friend in history. As with most imaginary friends, their attributes will change from person to person even if they all use the same template. The problem lies with the persons that lose track of the imaginary status of their friend and try to make the stories make sense.

I would add that not only appreciating little things we do on our own, but appreciating little things others do for us is essential.
Gopher you are truly a wise rodent. I've found that if I don't have expectations I am constantly suprised and pleased by the little things that come along. If we open ourselves up to experience what comes as it comes, we recieve much more in every way.

As far as the hardware, I've had one of my piercings for over 10 years and the other for close to 9. I've become a bit attached to them. While the split isn't my personal style, you rock it well and it fits your style. And trust me when I say that the hardware works better than fine

Cigarette smoke - Tho I'm a smoker, the smell of second hand smoke always reminds me of coffee breaks and seedy diners.
Here's a wierd one (or not, you can tell me) when I have a bruise and poke it (like ya do) I always smell bandaids.

Explaination: I was having a conversation with a friend of mine regarding the benefits and/or drawbacks to having tongue piercings. One of the drawbacks of having a couple good size chunks of surgical stainless steel in one's tongue is that I can't razz people or purr (the purring is more of a bedroom related item). Since I'd had a few beers and she was interested, I gave her a purring demonstration. that is that I offered the feeble purr I can manage with my hardware in followed by removing said hardware and purring for real. As I was attempting to replace my barbells I dropped one of the balls which promptly disappeared on the bar floor. Rather than be without hardware I opted to try my 4g that I've had for a few years in hopes of upgauging. Make sense? Clear as mud?

Meh. I'm known as Big Willy or BW by most of the local 'postates but it always feels wierd. I guess it's only been two years but I'll always identify as myself not as an online persona. Tho I am a bit more gabby and outgoing online.
