  Question for JWs still on the "inside":

  just a question: if you are still jws (for any reason, many just can`t leave because their entire families are wrapped around it, etc), but don`t believe in it, and lead a "double life", how do you cope with going door to door?

  i just can`t imagine how it must feel like to go out there and try to tell people at the doors or in the streets things you know are just bs!

  how do you deal with that?

  I stopped going out in service about 3 months ago. At first, I was all worried that the elders would be all up ons. But now I don't really much care. Nice to have my Saturday mornings relaxing and allowing other people out there to relax as well without peddling the latest Pulp Religion Monthly.

  I just got my WT Library CD ROM, 2005 version. And there is a new feature: Now, upon loading up the program, you are greeted with the daily text for the apropriate day along with links to the references used. My, how Jah's chariot moves right along, making minor computer program adjustments here, major flip-flops in doctrine there....

  Ever meet someone in the field service who knew their bible better than you

  once a brother told me that he knocked at a door, and it was a catholic priest who lived there, and that brother thought that he knew his bible better than that priest, so he showed him a couple of verses to prove that the jw's had the truth, but that brother didn't expect the priest to know his bible that well, and the brother didn't win his biblical debate.... wouldn't it be fun if more people knew their bible really well, and could use the bible to make the jw's go away... .

  gee, i hated that when i knocked at a door, and the person would go get their bible, and i saw that they had a decent knowledge of it... usually i left quite fast.

  Sadly, no... because I don't consider my knowlege of the Bible to be great or anything.... Now I understand why not many people did have a good understanding of the Bible - they were living their life and not paying so much attention to the world's greatest amalgam of paranoid prophecy.

  a while back i remember reading something about the acronyms different staff members of the writing department uses in their letter replies.

  such as: "xxx-xxx" or some format like that.

  anyone know where i can get my hands on that list that said which members used which acronyms?

  HAMAS WINS in Palestine

  what an incredible event.

  the militant hamas winning a majority of seats in the palestinian election.. netanyahu will likely return to power since ariel sharon had a massive stroke.. i just hope netanyahu doesn't follow the lead of sharon and give god's land away to the palestinians.

  god gave that land to israel.

  im fading, and some of my family now realize we arent going to meetings.

  everytime they phone or speak to me me, they keep reminding ( threatning) that the end is so close, dont give up now.. i just dont know how to respond, i know so much, but dont want to go into the un stuff yet ( dont want to sound apostate just yet) how can i say i dont believe the end is close !

  that armageddon isnt iminent, what scripture can i use to back it up.

  it wasn't the daughters of men who saw that the "gods" were fair, making the first move, but the "gods" who saw and took all they wanted.

  today that conduct would basically be called rape.

  Yes, rape was never bad enough in Jah's eyes to be a priority in discouraging. "What? You raped a virgin? HAh! Now you must marry her! Take that!"

  You're right. But the issue is heating up, and I think there will be more "clarifications" on blood in the near future. WIth the child sex abuse scandals, it was because these issues came out and policies were critisized on the outside. Then the Society reacted in their own way. All we need is for the Society to react - in their self-glorified way. It's all about the sanctity of the Organization, and they can make some awesome blunders trying to pull all sorts of PR moves in the process.

  150+/200 New Congregations in US are Spanish

  i have a friend who speaks spanish and likes to go to their meetings once in a while.

  she was visiting a nearby congregation who was having their co's visit and he mentioned that out of 200 congregations that were formed in the states last year, 150+ of them were spanish!!

  this, of course, was mentioned in light of how fast the spanish are growing, but all i could think about was that if the spanish consists of so much of the growth in the us, then the english congregations must really be doing horribly in order to break that 0% growth!

  They are also more of a social culture, and are more likely to participate in social/outgoing activities such as community events and religious services.

  Awesome. Best laugh I've had in a while. In this context, it is easy to see how utterly absurd the Old Testament is. Make all the rationalizations you want about how it was another time and culture, but it is still absurd and does not make sense.
