If that isn't a social metaphor...
well, it's cold in alaska.. i'm on a billion dollar boat with a dial up internet connection, and a, well, boat load of asians.. god, those people photograph everything.
i took my shoes off in the gym, and i had like sixteen little asian girls looking at them.
oh, the stories i could tell..... the funniest thing is watching my grandfather communicate with the foreign staff.

the watchtower magazine has used the word "soon" on many an occasion to point out to its readership how near armageddon really is.. a word that can mean anything, in effect, actually means nothing.
consequently, let's examine what "soon" actually means by definition and use.. there can only be three stages of time:.
wouldn't you agree with that?
Great comparison Leolaia!
Jesus warned us not to listen to old fruits on Patmos.
soon (if they haven't already) local congregations of jws will welcome newly disillusioned former members of the bethel family.
the most potentially dangerous have been paid off already (but what do you mean?
weren't we all given severances equally proportionate to our years of devoted service?
Are you one of these ex-Bethelites?
I would assume so, since he uses "Lets' eagerly" in a sentence. Maybe even a contributing writer...

the story goes that god provided the rainbow as a symbol of his promise to never again destroy the world by flood.. noah and his family saw the rainbow after they left the ark.
after the waters had receeded.
after it had stopped raining for months.... yet a rainbow is simply sunlight spread out into its spectrum of colors and diverted to the eye of the observer by water droplets.
Interesting response to my original question which, by the bye, was not a prank.
Regarding the JW stance about predeluvian rain, it is very ambiguous:
it-2 pp. 728-729 Rain
At an early point in the history of the preparation of the earth, "God had not made it rain upon the earth," but "a mist would go up from the earth and it watered the entire surface of the ground." The time referred to is evidently early on the third creative "day," before vegetation appeared. (Ge 2:5, 6; 1:9-13; see MIST.) The first instance in the Biblical record when rain is specifically mentioned as falling is in the account of the Flood. Then "the floodgates of the heavens were opened," and "the downpour upon the earth went on for forty days and forty nights."—Ge 7:11, 12; 8:2.
Now stop posting on this thread immediately! (except for rabid creationists or course...)
in metatron's excellent investigation of the newest gb self-inflicted podiatric wound, we were told about a pet bird... well, here's a quote from bstndance: growing up we had a pet bird that used to masterbate and my mom would try to stop him but he just kept doing it.
eventually she just gave up.
she said, "he doesn't know right from wrong".
Jackingdaws aside, here's a case of canine pornea for you...
I had a friend whose male rottweiler would seek out smaller passive male dogs. The Rott would then stand over the other male while thrusting his 'weiler' at the dog's mouth. This would happen on a regular basis.
This is not a joke! I witnessed a gay dog soliciting oral sex. Have a JW explain that.
"when you receive an encouraging shepherding visit, why not express appreciation for it?
" wt may 1, 2006, p. 21 pp.
sorry for stealing your thunder blondie, but this suggestion really struck home.
My favorite "Local Needs" talk was directly after a CO visit. The topic was why elders need to make regular shepherding calls.
So the elders got spanked for not making calls and decided to preach to the congregation about it.
Did I ever get a call? No.
tell us about your eating habits, are you health conscious do you avoid synthetic additives in food such as artificial flavours and preservatives and generally all processed food, are you vegetarian, vegan, do you buy organic food out of fear of pesticides, do you eat too much, do you go on diets often etc .
i was shocked to read somewhere that 90% of the food americans eat is processed.
it saves time using such food but....
I tend to eat a lot of cat meat (the younger the better) to the exclusion of other white meats.
What's the matter with a little dark kitty once in a while?
when i was a kid, my parents (strong in the truth: father elder, mother regular pioneer) encouraged me to read.
in reality, they could hardly have held me back; i come from a long line of bookworms, including my father.
books were like water.
Or my massive attempt to harmonize Sumerian/Akkadian chronology and Egyptian chronology with the 2370 BC date for the Flood.
You have to love the geek!
i once heard there was a congregation in the northen us with this nickname because so many in the congregation were on anti-depressants.
any body know about it??
?
Prozac park...is that like "spiritual paradise"?
.
just a few weeks before the district convention, there was a brother playing a major part in the drama who decided to shave his head.........(there wasn't a lot there anyway) (this happened 3 or 4 years ago somewhere in canada).
as a result, he was told he could no longer be in the drama...........and someone else had to step in on rather short notice.. it seems they still equate everyone with a shaved head as some kind of a "skinhead", belonging to a gang or something.. is this how it's views elsewhere?
I have not seen shaved heads on the platform. However I do notice some shaved heads in the crowd amongst the assemblies. That is new.
It is the style to wear if you are JW "fringe".
