How did you come up with the idea of "meaning" then? If there is no meaning to anything... how did the concepts of "meaning" and "no meaning" come about? If there was no meaning, why would humans prefer to not fathom a world without it? Where did they get the idea from?

Mankind's sufferings who's to blame?
by greendawn inthere is and always was a lot of suffering in the world since the beginning of history, so who is to blame?
is it a god that doesn't care or a mankind that refuses to be reconciled with god and through that find salvation?

What would make you jump on a couch?
by jojochan ini read this question in people magazine and lol'ed at the question.
i guess one of mine would be:.
to know that i won the lotto and that i don't ever have to work again, and to know that i can share the wealth to those that have none.. any one else?.

Apolo Anton Ohno... he's so hot. I think he's a lot shorter than me... but I could make an exception for him, anyday.
I don't think I'd jump on a COUCH, though... just up and down on the floor or ground probably. I don't want to be comparable to Tom Cruise in any way. Does anyone else find that man extremely annoying?

'I could easily kill someone' said the P.O.
by lowden ininspired by one of the other threas on todays board i was remindedof what the po of my 'then' cong' said just befors i left for good.. can't remember what the subject was but he ended up quite proudly announcing.....'if jehovah asked me to.....i would have no trouble killing someone, i would find it easy'!!
stunned silence.......this man is now a circuit overseer!
the phrase 'crazed extremist' comes to mind.. what was the most unbelievable, outrageous thing that was uttered in your earshot.

These people are very scary... it is very frightening to think of what they would do if they were told. I think maybe a few would get out, but if they were told to directly go out and murder people, they'd do it. They've already proved that they can murder their own children (blood transfusion issue)... it would probably be pretty easy for them to murder strangers if they can do it to their own children!
I think people who don't know anything about them don't realize how scary they and what they are capable of...

anewme... don't be ashamed... you weren't the one that was happy that 9/11 happened!
Why did your husband call the police, anyway? Because you were hitting him? Were you really hitting him that hard? Granted, I will admit that some women can be physically abusive to men... but it is usually rare. Most of the time when women hit men it doesn't really hurt them... that's not to say that they should do it, but most of the men are not really so scared or threatened as to call the police. It's typical of a JW to call the police for something stupid, though, just to get attention or to try to make you mad or make you look/feel bad.
On a side note, most JWs I know really don't look upon the police very highly... they don't like them because they enforce the "evil government's laws" and because they carry weapons. However, it's ironic that JWs always seem to be the first ones to call the police for absolutely no reason. For instance, my boyfriend's JW parents actually called the police one time because they were getting catalogs from Land's End and L.L. Bean in the mail. They never requested the catalogs, so they went to the POLICE to tell them that someone must have been sending them catalogs in the mail as a prank and to try to have that person ARRESTED. I could not believe it. The police probably rolled their eyes and thought they were so DUMB. They were probably in as much disbelief as I was. I cannot believe anyone would go to the police because they received unsolicited CATALOGS in the mail... by the way, don't they shove unsolicited Watchtower magazines in people's doors? Maybe someone should call the police on them! Nah, we wouldn't want to stoop to that ridiculous level.

I don't know... I heard that someone was deleting someone's posts and people's priviliges were being taken away on this discussion forum... but I didn't really get exactly what had happened or what is going on. Does anyone know, or am I just making no sense?

I got that message from him about his threads being deleted and his priviliges being taken away... I wrote back to him but he didn't really let me know what was going on, and there weren't a lot of details. Sorry to bring this up again if it's a touchy subject, but I am kind of confused and I don't get it.
Again, sorry to waste a thread on this!

If you wear that suit long enough, it might come back into fashion
by free2beme ini always got a kick out of the witness fashion sense, or lack there of.
i would see these old men wearing light blue and burgundy suits, in the 1990's.
when people said something, like "that is an out of date or fashion suit," they would act like it does not matter.

Oh, for sure. It seems to be a requirement for Jehovah's Witnesses to shop at thrift stores. At least, this was the case among all the JWs I knew. One time, my boyfriend's JW mom bragged to me about how many clothes her kids had... yeah, they each had about 40 shirts that cost 1 dollar apiece at the thrift store (or gasp! The Salvation Army! Seems that this organization of "Christendom" was okay as long as they offered cheap clothes). Anyway, ALL of their clothes looked like they were from the 70s. I am not kidding. They all wore like leisure suits that they complained about paying 3 DOLLARS for. They also frequented garage sales... but when they really wanted to go all out for something, they got it at Walmart. Why are JWs in general so unfashionable? Is it because they can't afford anything else cause they're all rug cleaners and janitors? Are they just clueless? Does it just not interest them? Do they actually like the hideous 60s and 70s clothes they wear?

Am I the only one who thinks that no one except a JW would go to see a documentary about JWs in a theater? JWs might be interested in.... ex-JWs are interested because they want to see what dumb things this "Knocking" is bound to say... but what other person who has not been closely affected by JWs would ACTUALLY go see that? They certainly wouldn't pay money to... in fact, I don't think most would watch it for free. The majority of people I have ever met don't like Jehovah's Witnesses and pretty much don't care enough about them except to make a casual joke (something along the lines of "Some of those stupid door-knockers showed up on my porch this morning and I slammed the door on them!") I mean... do you think anyone will REALLY pay much attention to this thing except the usual suspects?
