I know plenty my age who were not prepared to leave the WT yet, ended up doing it anyway and are not left off to fend for themselves and being able to go to school is just not an option.

There have been plenty of times where I have been offered a place to live (usually by some guy it seemed that I was getting serious with at the time) but I just cannot think like that. I shudder at the thought of having to be dependant on a man.

I want to do it on my own.

well, it's memorial season and mom has been giving me the "look" this past week ever since she has decided to pioneer for february and march.

anyways, the thing is i plan on buying a new car in the next couple months.

well, i know how my mom operates.

Explain to me how my actions merit selfish and dishonest? Maybe I should just go to my parents tonight, tell them I think JW's are a brainwashing cult and that I don't believe the FDS are God's mouthpiece nor that there is a Paradise.

Then I can pack my bags and move into a homeless shelter after they kick me out with all $37.50 in my bank account...

Everyone on here can agree that everyone who wants to exit need to do it in a timely manner.

i ran across a witness i knew the other day at the gym and we had an open and honest discussion on exiting the organization.

he still goes and used to be an elder, but stepped down when his children were disfellowshipped.

he was actually very honest with me on some subjects, which tells me that he is probably putting together an exit foundation and looking for some bricks of information to make it solid.

I wonder to myself all the time: "Why am I the only person in my hall who is the same age as me?" (Okay there is one other sister but she's a fanatical DUB so she doesn't count

Basically, by age 18 if they haven't turned into a fanatic (regular pioneer, serving where the need is greater etc.) then they will more than likely leave as soon as the oppurtunity arises.

And I kid you not! Even when I visit other halls it is the same thing. I am the only person in my 20's there. Most of the other 20 somethings are already married (one that I know of is married to some wanna-be elder busy body and is already on her third child and a "homemaker" and she's only 25!

I did know this one other 20 something...but she was just annouced D'F a couple weeks ago...go figure

i just found out today (from my sister) that crooklyn will not be making any more bound volumes of the watchtower or awake magazines after this year------instead, they're all going to be on audio tape only.

she does not have a computer so i generously

i think this could very well be yet another tactic of the gb trying to keep a lid on their "embarassing" quotes of yesterday.

Good point. Anyone notice how most of the WT books are in paperback form nowadays (even the standard black NWT bible) and the bond volumes

Paperback is much cheaper to produce then hardcover..suddenly Crooklyn is gettting cheap on us folks!

kristyann: I'm sorry if I'm out of the loop here... but in the bound volumes... did they ever change things around from the originals?

All the time! I can't remember exactly which one but there have been plenty of quotes and illustrations changed once the bond volume came out...one specific one that stands out is a WT cover illustration that was changed because the artist of that particular pic sued the WT for using it without his permission..but that was somewhere around the 70's I believe.

Audio must be CD ROM. Right? We can't be talking about simply tapes here! My mom has everything on CD from the WT nowadays.

What a shame..they discourage computers/internet and yet everything they use nowadays even at Crooklyn is in that form

NO WAY!!!! If I even find out they would hold such a screening at my school I will make sure I get in contact with every ex-DUB in the state of Georgia to speak against it.

What has been your response with telling "devout" JW's about the UN scandal

i was talking to a elderly jw's lady at the donut shop the other day and i brought up the un and the wt scandal.

this woman told me that i was lying and that jw's leaders would never be apart of a "satanic" org as the un.

she said that "apostates" are spreading vivious lies about jw's and are only telling half truths.

I've never mentioned it to anyone before but I am itching to do it just to see what they will say. I just want to create a scenario first so it does not look like I'm being the bad little brooklym slave.

So here is the best one I have thought up so far:

-Pretend I have a professor who used to work in the UN building and when I tell him I am one of JW's one day he says to my sheer surprise: "Oh yes! JW's! I remember when they were one of our members then for some reason after an article came out they suddenly pulled there membership. Do you know why?"
