HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAMSELFLY
HAVE A GOOD ONE
out of the 10 commandments given to moses, how many did you break?
the 10 commandments of god.
1. thou shalt have no other gods before me.. 2. thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image.. 3. thou shalt not take the name of the lord thy god in vain.. 4. remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.. 5. honour thy father and thy mother.. 6. thou shalt not kill.. 7. thou shalt not commit adultery.. 8. thou shalt not steal.. 9. thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.. 10. thou shalt not covet.
At some time all of them, apart from 6
what a depressing birthday for me.
this is the longest i have ever been single(6 months and lots of self-loving was necessary to make it this long)
and so although i did not want to wake up this morning.
Belated happy birthday lonely
how often does it happen that we can be asked, rather like on the witness chair in a trial: "what exactly were you doing on the night of xx-xx-xxxx 30 years ago?
" and actually be able to answer that question?
i know exactly what i was doing during the evening of september 30, 1975: i was fervently praying to jehovah that i would be found worthy, in spite of all my weaknesses and failures, to find his favor and live through the next day, the day that armageddon was happening.
I didn't become a jw until 1992, but I can remember a dub I worked with in 1974/75 boring us all to tears with his preaching at work. Every available moment he seemed to be trying to hand out tracts to his colleagues. Most of us took his warnings of impending doom with a huge pinch of salt, but a couple of guys started attending kh meetings with him, and one of them even got baptised as a jw early in 1975. When 1976 came, and we were all still alive, he left the lie and, as far as I know, never returned. As for the guy who got him in, he was pretty disappointed when nothing happened, and soon left the company we were at. I don't know if he's still a dub or not. Remembering all that makes me wonder how I fell for it all myself in 1991.
Great story Onacruse, keep it coming
.
every year the jw's have a new theme "scripture" written on the wall near the stage.. what would you suggest for 2006?.
how about, "is it for this year lord"?
As you have done, it will be done to you;
your deeds will return upon your own head....... Obadiah
well, during the cannyfest we had a spell when sat around a room 'book study style' (we're so used to that, eh?
) and we actually came up with this weekend's weekend poll.
so here we go, brought to you from the cannyfest (canberra, australia):.
Definitely number 2 for me
I only saw one person ever take the emblems anyway, and he was somewhat strange anyway
i've just been reading the november the 1st watchtower and its article on contributions that warm god's heart!.
it likens the contributions received by the wtbts as those given to rebuild god's temple in jerusalem!
the sheer cheek of the comparison!.
I gave plenty in my time in the lie, but they have had nothing from me for almost 6 years, and they won't be getting any more.
The only thing they'll ever get from me again is the odd harsh word when I meet any of them
I feel for you Sam, I used to dread those days even when I was a loyal dub
elders were supposed to set the lead so that the rank and file would follow suit.
i generally read the watchtower thoroughly but seldom did i read the awake.
were you faithful readers of those rags?
Yes, I read them cover to cover while I was in, I haven't read either since I left, or any other jw literature. I burned all my books years ago
heya, i'm new to the site(no shit huh?
), was actually found a couple of weeks ago by legolas on another board, he recommended me to come here, i've been out of the organisation for about 2-3 years now.
i'm from the uk, i'm currently studying for a degree at a local university, and working in a record store, and to be honest the last 3 years have been the best years of my life.
Welcome to the board
