Not DA'd, Not DF'd - but pretty much Disowned...
by Ingenuous ini just came from what will probably be the last conversation i'll ever have with my father.
earlier in the day, i'd talked to my mom and she asked what i was up to - translated "what are you doing with yourself since you aren't going to meetings or out in service?
" i told her i'd been discussing the bible with an informal group of people and reading older wts literature.

Ingenous, I am so sorry you had to go through all that, you have done nothing wrong. I must agree with GBL though, write the letter. I did this a short time ago, and though I'd been inactive for some time prior to that, it felt good to make the decision to leave myself and not let them make it for me. It really doesn't matter what people think after the announcement has been made, you know in your heart that you have done nothing wrong, and so does God, who is after all the ultimate judge of us all. Whatever you decide, I wish you well. Take care dedpoet

YOU'RE ALL GOING TO DIE!
by Gill inwell, today i began to think there really was no point in trying to argue a point in a reasonable reasoning way with a jw, after all, there's non so blind as those who will not see.. i saw my, mother, again and we had a humungous scrap on the wtbts.
she wanted to know if i expected her to return to the rcatholic church as that's the religion she originated in.
she told me how she had been badly beaten by the nuns and that on one occasion when she had missed class and gone to the cinema instead she had received such a severe clobbering that she could barely sit down for a week.

Wow Gill, that was some discussion, sounds like you didn't hold anything back! I am glad you parted friends though, and maybe you did plant a seed of doubt in her mind, lets hope so

Were You Appalled When You First Saw "Life Of Brian"?
by Englishman inthere was so much hoo-hah prior to the films release, that i became ever determined to see it as soon as it hit town!.
the church leaders were up in arms about it, mary whitehouse became almost apoplectic, it was almost the end of civilisation as we knew it!.
well, we duly toddled off to see it.

I saw that film before I became a jw, and found it hilarious. I saw it again after becoming a jw at an elders house, and he thought it pretty funny as well

Aux. pioneers can now attend the first half of the CO's Pioneer meeting
by truthseeker inwhile looking at the notice board of our pending co's visit, i noticed on his letter to the congregation that auxiliary pioneers can now attend the first half of the pioneer meeting.. i've never heard of this before, i thought only regular pioneers could attend.. is this a change in policy?
what would be the reasoning behind it?
to give them a taste of what it is to be a regular pioneer?

Is this supposed to be a privilege? When I was a pioneer, we dreaded the meeting with the co. He was of the "old school", full of criticism if you hadn't got lots of studies, and if you were behind in your hours well, you were in for it. I have seen sisters leave those meetings in tears.

THE ULTIMATUM is about to be thrown.............
by Buck inwell, its been a while since i was made a unbaptized publisher.
now my hand is going to be forced and i will have to be baptized by the end of the year.
my gf wants my decision very soon, like the next couple of days.

Buck, just make sure you know what you are potentially getting into. I f you have ANY doubts about becoming a fully-fledged jw, don't do it. Even if she seems like the most wonderful g/f in the world, and getting dunked is the price you have to pay to get her, if you are in doubt then the price is way too high. Getting baptised into the jws was the worst mistake of my whole life, and I DID believe in what I was doing at the time. You are a young man, and the best years of your life are ahead of you, don't waste them.
