As an elder I have always felt the most helpless trying to give marriage counsel. Especially when I was only one or two years married and people in their fifties were looking to me for advice! Elders are given no real guidance in this area. We are told NOT to read psycology texts as that is "worldly" wisdom. Often our families are falling apart due to being too busy with congregation work. We're afraid to admit the problems because of "loss of privileges." Afraid to seek therapy because "it would bring reproach." Thank God I came to my senses and decided to resign.

Comments You Will Not Hear at the 10-22-06 WT Study (TONGUE)
by blondie in"let each one of you individually so love his wife as he does himself; on the other hand, the wife should have deep respect for her husband.
1) suppose you received a gift-wrapped package with a label that read: "handle with care.

What Was the Role of the Prophets? --->please help pick this apart.
by lisavegas420 ini asked a jw several questions via email ....this was the only question she has answered.. the first page talks about false doctrines.
do jehovah's witnesses feel that they are prophets?
the title of this is "the end of false religion is near" that sounds like a prophesy.. this is her answer.. whatwastheroleoftheprophets?.

She seems to be parroting the WT view that prophets do not have to prophesy. They merely have to speak God's Word. Actually that still contradicts Deut. 18:20-22 and 13:1-4. Does the WT speak God's Will as defined by the Bible? Or do they effectively advocate worshiping an organization that continually changes their version of what the Bible "really" teaches?

What Do You Think About The "Faithful&Discreet Slave Class"?
by minimus inthere are so many new posters here now, i think this topic should be revisited.
i believe the most ridiculous belief that witnesses have is a "slave class" made up of 144,000 give spiritual "food at the proper time".
why can't jws see thru this??

As already mentioned ONE SCRIPTURE! My God, even their birthday theory is mentioned twice. Further, if I needed proof that the FDS is as fictional as Santa Claus its this: The Society does not keep a record of any kind of the emblem partakers. When this dawned me I was stunned. But to my knowledge it is the truth. The elders send in a small card after each Memorial to Patterson with the number of partakers. No names, addresses of any kind go out. Furthermore when someone new to the congregation partakes, the elders decide whether to count that person or not. How's that for an arrangement? They know more about the status of various corporation voting members than they do about the supposed channel through which they get their doctrine from.

Is there anyway anyone can deny all religion is nothing more than guesses?
by The Dragon insee it all the time...and children even talking about it!.
is there any evidence that can prove all religions are nothing more than other mens guesses into the intentions and plans of god?.
we cannot even discern each others intentions or thoughts...how can someone claim to know god's?

I think it was Thomas Payne who said that for every Scripture used to prove one point, he could find one to prove the exact opposite. This stuff is guesswork and little else.

Mere Children who are Disfellowshipped
by BabaYaga inthis was inspired by another thread, where freetosee told of a young witness baptised at the tender age of 9, and disfellowshipped at age 12!!!
the mind goes wild at what a 12-year-old should ever be disfellowshipped for.
how would a kid be so unrepentant they would deserve losing their family and friends?

That Sesame Street is a riot. Fits too. Makes me think of dubs walking the streets back and forth, back and forth....proclaiming the end is NEAR.

The Second Emergent Type of "Faders"
by metatron ini was having an interesting conversation with another witness who's nearly faded away.
he made an interesting point that corrected me and.
touched my heart.. i wondered aloud if there was "any limit to how stupid the organization could collectively become".

I have often remarked to fading Witness friends that this is far more important to many JWs than the doctrine. The doctrine isn't understood by many. And many sisters I know admit privately that they are not in for the doctrines, but for the social network. So as the "love" decreases they are saying: "What's left?" Many of them have to work, have ailments, children and other responsibilities and can't understand why the Society keeps making demands of them. One sister tells me that this is a "ten year" religion. Meaning that one can only keep the sense of urgency rfor about ten years before "burnout" sets in. And so these folks are just dissappearing.

Kingdom Melodies and Hidden Messages
by inbyathread inthere has been talk about wt imagery and the use of subtle hypnotism during meetings.. we had a co who very forcefully wanted the piano players axed and the canned music used for the singing.. has there been any studies done to find sub-harmonic messages hidden in the music?.
paranoia and conspiracy artists may now address.
thanks.

I have often thought about how the songs programmed us. There was the one about how the anointed would be "ever faithful," meaning they never could go against Jehovah. Then there was the one "Displaying Loyalty:"
"To God's loyal congregation,
We too will show loyalty,
Give it our steadfast allegiance,
even in adversity.
Faithfully we'll guard its int'rests,
Never let them suffer harm.
Should we see that they are threatened,
We will quickly sound alarm."
I guess that means, tell on your friends and family if they ever question the Watchtower.
