The following is something that was sent to me. Needless to say they get it all wrong since Kofi Annan and george Bush are talking about how extremeists fuel a 'war of religion' and attck religious. Not that they are about to wage a wage ON religion! http://rawstory.com/news/2006/Annan_warns_against_new_war_of_reli_09192006.html http://www.hindustantimes.com/news/181_1801069,00050001.htm

I remember reading somewhere, it may have been the Divine Purpose book, a statement made by Russell. He said that watching prophecy was like riding on a train, sitting in a seat facing backwards. So that one only sees the terrain after the train has past it. I can't believe that I bought into that.

Literature not for Disf'ed people says Elder.........
by Balsam ini had an interesting encounter today, actually my son and i both.
well my good intentioned ex-husband and father of my son thought he would have the local congregation elders call on us and try to get us back to meetings.
well i had been getting literature from this local elder's wife without her knowing i was ever a jw.

One other thing, they have started putting option of getting the literature without someone visiting you on the coupons printed in the magazines. Easier to just get them on the street....or a local trash can.

They cannot deny you literature. They are wrong by their own policies. On the JC notes, what they told you is the procedure. Of course that is providing that they follow it.

Good news: No longer an elder; Bad news: Disappointed wife
by doinmypart inmy wife & i have a good relationship except when it comes to things dealing with the wts.
over the past few years we've both made concessions, and i even made some headway in getting her to think about some things.
but from time-to-time we would end up arguing about something wts-related and there would be days of tension between us.. well, a few weeks ago we were having a casual conversation about wildlife in our area, she mentioned something about jehovah ruining those who ruin the earth.

I feel for you doinmypart. I am about to resign as well. Fortunately my wife has signed on to the idea. The fact is that being an elder takes time away from wives. When I resign, I will be writing the Service department with my real reasons and will probably post that letter here as well. Good luck.

Any elders on this forum- blood question
by sspo ini had to step down as an elder for 2 years now so i don't know if there is any new " light " from the gb concerning taking blood.
the watchtower keeps on saying it is a personal decision that every jw has to make whether to get a transfusion or not.. i would like to know if you take a transfusion what are the consequences in the congr.. do the elders have any instructions from the gb on how to handle it?
if it is a personal decision to take blood and you do, will you get df or maybe lose priviliges in the cong.. .

Provided that the elders even know.... If they do, then they are to look into it. But they do not disfellowship for this anymore. It is the same as it was when you stepped down as an elder. They are to determine by Judicial Committee if the person did this willfully or merely under the pressure of the moment. If the person if not a "willful sinner" then some restrictions aree put in place. If they are "unrepentant" then they are to be disassociated. Of course the one thing that has changed is not regarduing blood but ratherdf'ing announcemenmts. now the DA and DF announcements are identical. And of course the effects are the same. The DA just gives the Watchtower more "wiggle" room legally. Note Jim Pellechia's comments on this article found on Beliefnet.com. (http://www.beliefnet.com/story/29/story_2935_1.html) " The new rule--which was quietly adopted in a private meeting of the religion's leaders in April and has not yet been fully explained to all the world's Witnesses--stipulates that members who take blood will no longer be actively excommunicated, or ``disfellowshipped,'' by the religion. Instead, members who accept blood transfusions will be judged to have voluntarily ``disassociated'' themselves from the 3 million-member denomination, whose adherents also refuse military service and consider other Christian churches to be ruled by Satan. Canadian Jehovah's Witness official Dennis Charland said the faith continues to teach that the God of the Bible, whom Witnesses call Jehovah, literally commands them to ``abstain from blood''--as mentioned in Acts 15:20 and other biblical passages. The penalty for this sin is to lose access to spiritual paradise. James Pellechia, a Witness spokesman at Watch Tower headquarters in Brooklyn, N.Y., said The Times of London reporter who wrote the article alleging a change in policy, which was picked up wire services and newspapers in the United States, Canada and Britain, ``was trying to make mischief." "(The reporter) called it an `extraordinary U-turn' for the Jehovah's Witnesses. It's no turn whatsoever. It's a minor change in procedural terminology,'' he said. However, a University of Victoria anthropologist who has written a book about the Jehovah's Witnesses said she believes the religion's leaders changed the wording of their blood-exchange policy to make it easier to legally fend off people who have been shunned by the religion." tsof

Generation change?
by Jerohobobonadad inhello all.. forgive my ignorance, but what exactly was the generation change, and what are the implications for jw doctrine?.
although i rarely missed a meeting until a couple of years ago, this either went over my head or i wasn't listening (most likley).. i'm not the sharpest tool in the box so please keep it simple!
references would be nice.. thanks.

Basically their stance now is what other Christian churches have been saying for years. The people who are alive at the time will see the events. A little obvious, shame it took WT over 100 years to see it.

Watchtower.org article on tattoos
by AlmostAtheist inhey all,.
i'm practically brain-dead this afternoon, unable to handle anything of any intellectual level to speak of.
so i thought i'd drop by watchtower.org and see what drivel they were passing off these days.. one of the lead articles is "should i get a tattoo?".

Mind you in the chapter, I believe the verse prior to the one they use to forbid tattoos is the one that says: "You must shave your beard" or something to that effect. So why can't we wear beards. Same chapter, same Law, same set of principles, double Watchtower standard.
