Leolaia, that`s just amasing. From Hawai to Norway, ha ha.
Under74, about the eggs, it wasn`t just brown eggs. From I was the age of 1-6, we ran a farm that we rented, and we had chickens, cows, sheep etc. So we didn`t have to buy milk at the store, but, oh yes, we had to buy eggs, even though we had like 2000 chickens laying eggs. This was because there always was a chance that there might be blood in the eggs that came straight from the chickens, because they hadn`t been (oh, don`t know the english word) going thru the factory process, being checked for disease, and being seen thru with that light-thing, you know, the thing that checks the eggs for having chickens in them, blood, and things like that. Forget about salmonella (which there always is a chance of in eggs), oh no, the important thing was blood. So stupid.

Ok,I just remembered another one. I`m not sure if it`s "folklore", or just something insane my grandma came up with. I remember that a kid started at my school, a refuge-kid from sout-America (Chile, I think, they ran from the military dictatorship), and this kids name was Jesus. I remember that I used to think that was so strange, and then I asked my grandmother, if someone could be called Jesus, were there people that were named Jehovah too? And then my grandma said that no, Jehovah had fixed it so that noone could be named Jehovah. And I asked "what if someone did, what if someone called their kid Jehovah". And my grandma said that if they did, Jehovah would kill them on the spot. LoL.

I was young too, I was born in 1973. But we knew about KISS from around the 3rd grade, or something like that, there was always someone who had an older brother who had the albums, etc. Oh yeah, Detroit rock city was good. And "I was made for loving you baby, you was made for loving meeee". I think "knights" must have changed till "kids" on the way over the atlantic. How weird, that this strange belief was the same in the US and in Australia too. But I`ve seen it before, someone mentioned on this forum once about not being supposed to eat brown eggs, because they had blood in them, and I remember my grandmother had that belief too. So weird. It`s like we`re in this secret society or something, ha ha.

The thread about this one, had K.I.S.S in the title. That reminded me about something funny. When I was a kid, the biggest rockband in the world was KISS. And so, just like my friends at school, I wanted to have posters on the wall and stuff, but of course I wasn`t allowed to. Then we kids in the congregation were told by some of the older kids, that KISS stood for "Kids In Satans Service". And another heavy metal band, WASP, stood for "We Are Satans People". It`s just bs, of course, but back then we believed it. So I had to hide my fascination for KISS.
Anyone know any other similar stories?

Watchtower prediction of religion's demise looking bad
by Cygnus ingoldman is struck by the surge of religious intensity throughout the world.
he mentioned the rise of fundamental islam in the middle east, political power of the religious right in america and the dedication to faith of israeli settlers.
"this is something that is happening on a global basis," goldman said.

A JW would probably not see this as a problem, or "unfulfilled prophecy". The strengthening/growth of "regular" christianity would only be seen as Babylon gathering its forces for the final battle (or something like that). It`s like with everything else (persecution=end times is really near, members increase=the work is soon done, end is really near etc), their a$$es are covered either way.

pathetic
by schne_belly inisnt this just pathetic.
i work for my father (a current jw) and we have some jw customers.
since my recent fading, one particular customer, an elder, has come into work for business and then carried it further to encouraging me offering a hearing ear etc.

God, doesn`t this bring back memories. When I was around 14, I was "fading" too. I just wanted out. As my father had recently passed away, the elders and ms decided to "take responsibility"m picking me up after school, having bible study with me, picking up my mother (and me) for meetings, etc. Like they were my damn fathers. After a while I started jumping out the window to escape, when they came to pick me up, hid in the hall after school when I knew the guy would be waiting for me in the parking lot to pick me up for Bible study, etc. I was a fugitive at age 14. If they hadn`t eventually stopped, I`d probably have gone nuts, hurt someone or whatever. Damn them all to hell.

do you resent your parents for bringing you into the WTS?
by kid-A infor those born into the wts, do you ever feel resentment towards your folks for forcing this upon you?
i went through a stage of strong resentment and anger, but no longer feel this way.
i think they sincerely believed they were acting in my best interests.

Yes, I hate them for that. I hate them (especially my mother) for talking about, and/or mentioning Armageddon, the short time left, the demons etc, many, many times each and every fucking day, cause this, along with other kinds of abuse, mostly psychological, has screwed me up severely. I have been chronically depressed since my early/ mid teens, and had my first anxiety attack at 13, on new years eve, with all the rockets/fireworks (which I believe triggered some kind of Armageddon panic thing). I know that my mother was probably mentally ill (or insane, although she functioned in everyday life), but I still hate them from the bottom of my heart. They`re both dead now, for many years, and I haven`t even visited their graves.

J Malik wrote: " Daniel 12:1 And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book. 2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. " Wow, I had completely forgotten about that one! Yes, that`s a great argument, Malik! It is strange that Michael is mentioned in that, linking him to the ressurection, isn`t it? I mean, why Michael? Why emphasise one of the archangels? Anyone have a counter for that one?

LittleToe, I agree with you, my last post was just "in case" Jesus was Michael. I don`t think he was either. But if he was, I can`t see that he could be, without also being the Word (that Michael would also have to be the Word - Jesus, Michael and the word would have to be the same being). "And He is the image of the invisible God, the first-born of all creation." (Colossians 1:15)
