  Hi fellow Carolinians,

  I live in Anderson; about 25 miles from Greenville, 100 from Columbia and 275 from the beach area. I'm a life long resident. I was born and raised in "the truth". All of my family on my mothers side, those still living, are life longers and still goin' strong. None of my fathers side of the family are/were witnesses. Both sides of the family were close, but ALL of my religious influence came from the witness side. If any of you folks are in my area, drop me an e-mail or give me a call,(names in the phone book; Jack Chapman).
  I'll do the same when I'm up or down your way. Ex-witnesses always have something in common to have a beer/coffee and talk about!

  i want to barf.

  i was wondering when the hell samuel herd was going to shut up.. blab blab blab.... aren't we wonderful, oh we are so wonderful.. about the only thing that was said that i could see as being something which the gb would see as touchy enough to warant the multiple announcements for " no tape recorders, no video recorders and no computer note taking" would be the statement by herd that there's "going to be a lot off killing, billions will die ....in swift fashion".

  and the other gb (fill in the name) who talked about being in the new world "in two hundred years".... wow.. that's leaving enough prophetic lee-way for the gb heirs to the thrones.. much emphasis was placed on the "...two roads to the new system ...the high road and the low road".

  I know this is gonna sound like it's comming from from WAY out in left field but I seriously predict that within the next year or two that WTS will announce that the new system has already arrived. Just pause a few minuets and think about it; they really could pull it off!

  dont get me wrong, i dont mean to sound critical or rude, but how can some of you say you are witnesses but not attend meetings and stuff...or go witnessing?

  its what jehovah says to do, so how can u not do what jehovah says, but yet call yourself a jehovahs witness??

  this verse is something that just crossed my mind.. roughly paraphrased:.

  "the great and fear inspiring day of jehovah".

  "the great and awe inspiring day of jehovah".

  2."The great and awe inspiring day of Jehovah"

  The word awe probably reflects the correct meaning in the verse. Just goes to show how the JW's love to choose a definition to induce dread into their followers.
  There's a BIG difference in the impression one gets by changing the meaning of one word. Fear implies just what it says. Awe promotes a sense of wonder.

  The devil's in the details, no?

  Interfaith Relationship

  i am currently involved in a relationship for the last year and a half with a man that i found out about 2 months ago is a jehovahs witness (and i am catholic).

  the only reason why i found this out, was that i was pushing the issue as to why his parents do not know that i exist.

  this really irritated me since he has a very close relationship with his parents.

  assuming the creator exists, how far do you feel he/she should go in interfering with the exercise of our free will?

  wouldn't any direct interference negate such freedom?

  seems to me it's a very thin line between puppet like control and absolute freedom.

  really want to give up your individuality? Give it a lot of thought; think long and hard about the details. The ramifications would be endless and IMO probably unacceptable to most of us, pain and suffering not withstanding.

  Meteor Strike!

  recently we have seen the devastating effects just two planes can cause within a built up area,imagine what the effects would be if a meteor struck this planet.. my question is,are we taking this threat seriously,is enough money being put into discovering and tracking these meteors?

  the fourth paragraph on page 30 in the october 1, 2001 wt says this:.

  " this shows that when paul wrote those words, "the seventh day" of god's rest, which had started some 4,000 years earlier, was still in progress.

  In all fairness, the WT has taught for quite a while that the earth was much older than 42000+ years. "In the beginning" implies no set time; could be millions. The creative days started when "the earth was void and without form".
