  my whole mothers side of the family made us think like that as well.

  everyone knew who my family was!

  Im an optimist and I think that something good can come out of everything- even the awful things you have had to endure for all those years. Personally Ive been through a lot of crap too, but different crap from yours (i'll prob tell my story soon anyway) but I realised im better equipped now to help other people going thru similar probs to myself. Its certainly helped me gain more self-respect.

  Anyway- keep strong, im new here really but i can tell you are an asset to these boards.

  What is it that makes posters leave?

  was just reading the topic "its time to say goodbye" and it makes me wonder what is it that makes people who have been here for a long time leave?

  i couldnt imagine leaving this forum i love it and the people in it :) es

  There could be more to this. There was another thread saying "are you addicted to this site?" I guess some people come on here and easily get sucked in to posting loads and loads- after all being a JW is your whole life at the time and after leaving its natural that you will have a lot to say on the subject.

  Posting CAN take up a lot of time, as does reading other posts etc, maybe too much of a commitment for some? Although this 'addiction' is less harmful than the rest (for me its theraputic), some people i guess want to move onto something else in their lives- maybe by going 'cold-turkey'. Its maybe sad that they do that- personally if I reach this stage Id still visit the site, just maybe post less.

  I havent got a PC at home at the moment, so only post while Im at work- but I think about this site a lot. I just want to carry on sharing with people who have come from the same place as me (ie the JW's) and one day I wanna be a part of the furniture on here.

  i was brought up as a witness since 1971 in my heart i never trully belived but always wanted to please my parants and peers when i got married and had children i stopped going about 10 years ago before this i had suffered with depression and self loathing.

  now iam a free man.

  in the hall at biggleswade bedfordshire is a ministerial servant who has abused his younger brother and sister .

  this is a fact and because one of them will not come forward he remains a servent.

  wake up.. by mixing only with witnesses and having 3 meetings a week plus saterday on the service your brains become tired in .

  Name Some Trivial Things That Are Big Deals To JWs

  so many things come to mind to show how silly jws sound in reality.

  for example, being allowed to pass the microphones is a big deal, especially to a young brother.

  or being given the "privilege" of cutting the grass or working on a "quick-build" is really something special to a jw.

  I have to disagree with The Killers and Coldplay being over-rated- they are ace.

  Richie- Black-Eyed Peas??????????!!!!! You can do better than that! Its pop rubbish. Or is it just because of the girl???

  right so i have a younger cousin that works with me (helped him get a job with my company because in s.a you gotto pray you know someone who can help you get a job).

  as you know i've left the borg - he's still very much into it.

  so yesturday myself, him & a mutual college go off for a lunch at the keg - we order our food and when it comes, he bows his head and prays....silenty - the waitress comes over and thinks he's fallen asleep (narcarpsy sp???

  Hhhhmmm I used to battle with this when I was a JW. When I was around non-JW's I always used to be very discreet and pray out of their way, or simply not close my eyes. Tho I know there were some JW's who would pray for ages before each meal just to make a point. Silly really, cos they are only drawing attention to themselves.....

  Starting diet again.

  i have started my diet two days ago because eating too many nuts and chocolates over a couple of months made me gain quite a bit of weight.

  now i have to lose 10kg (22 pounds)and in this diet i will be doing 1800 calories per day and go for a one hour walk along the beach.

  no chocolates, biscuits, cakes, crisps (chips) or nuts and i should be on target by mid september.

  I have to lose weight too. What helped me (but I have to get back into it) was Paul McKenna's new book. Basically what it tells you to do is eat much much slower and concentrate on your food a lot more, chew more than usual. It helps you feel more full somehow and makes you want to eat less. I did this along with drinking a lot of water and taking Soya Lecithin (fat emulsifier) and it seemed to work quite well.

  At last finished reading Crisis of Conscience

  and what an eye opener it was...dont get me wrong i faded some 10 years ago and the reasons for such were contained in the book, i.e 1914, failed prophecies and so forth.. the expose is disarming by its objective style and whilst i now read any literature through sceptical eyes i could see a person genuinely grieved by what had taken place and the crisis he was subjected to conscientiously; it said it all to me when he said that his aim was not to divert people from the jws but give them support so they could develop as christians and therefore allow them to come to their own conclusions (or words to that effect).. extremely well written and consise with reams of references (which i happen to love).. anyone that is recently out must read this book...it objective, honest and was totally surprising in parts.. db74
