I agree with this. I found it a bit of a paradox. When I was stronger in the 'truth' I got plenty of visits and plenty of pats on the back etc. When I started to fade and had problems, they didnt want to know! There were time when I was begging them to come round, but not a sausage. Hardly Shepherd-like is it??

Get over it. The elders don't want to "shepherd" you.
by ithinkisee inwhenever elders hear the complaint from someone that "they never get shepherded or visited by the brothers" do you know what they do when you walk away?.
they look at each other and roll their eyes.
they make comments along the lines of "great.

Poor United ...
by Simon inas a city fan, i must say my heart goes out to all the poor united fans, many of them abroad and down south, who face seeing their club go to ruin now some rich american has bought it whoseems intent on wringing as much short-term profit from it as possible and offloading a heap load of debt onto it.
oh, and not even runners-up again this season ... 20 points off the pace while chelsea smash all the records utd set ... that must hurt too.
still, look on the bright side - it's brought a smile to lots of soccer fans around the country and you can always bring out half a dozen new kits next season to raise more money.

Im a Liverpool fan, so I always raise a smile at the Man U plight. My biggest smile was at the pictures of Man U fans with big banners that say- "Man U is not for Sale" I think this is a good point, Man U is owned by a tubby American billionaire!!!!!! aahhh and Old Trafford should now read 'Nike Arena' if plans go ahead. Theres a great letter knocking around somewhere from Gazer to the Fans... I'll see if i can find it.

Aversion to Polo mints
by New Worldly Translation ini don't know if anyone else has this affliction along with an aversion to trebor extra strong mints.
it goes back to my days attending the kingdom hall and taking a packet of mints to suck on and pass the time.
mints being the only food type allowed at meeting time i seem to recall.

aaahhh. I never really liked minty polo's. I preferred the fruity ones. With sweets silence and stealth were the keys. There is an art to carefully opening a wrapper and getting sweet after sweet into your mouth without anyone noticing. Maybe it was just the congs i was in but there always seemed to be an odd brother in the corner sucking on a fishermans friend. (for those shocked by that, can i just explain that a fishermans friend is a kind of sweet, not some euphenism for something else... ok???)

A must for all who want to know the real "truth"?
by phil78 inyesterday i linked to a web site that left me spellbound!
here on jwd you can read as many profiles and testimonies as you like about life in the "truth", but yesterday i linked to: http://www.towertotruth.net/audio.htm and heard real life heart wrenching tales of misery and abuse.. .
i really recommend to all that you have a listen, especially those "still in" jw's trying to decide what to do.

I think you gotta be careful when you say JW's are sick, because some witnesses are great people. You do meet many genuine and honest people in the 'truth', maybe who dont realise the bigger picture, who only know what they are told. If you feel angry at anyone surely it should be the organisation of it all. I used to be a witness but have been out for 2 years or so, but the way of thinking is so ingrained its difficult for me, because I always begin to 'think' like a witness and have to stop and go back and reason differently.
For it to be said that witnesses are 'sick' is like the way it is believed by witnesses that all people NOT a witness are 'wrong'. I dont think we should be painting lots of people with the same brush, its not their fault.

I feel so angry!
by Ellie in.
not really much point to this except i want to vent some anger but yesterday my little brother came round to my house for lunch, he is studying and living at the house of my jw sister, i myself have never been baptized so am not disfellowshipped but they all (with the exception of my little brother) treat me as though i where.. anyway, my little brother came round for lunch and the next thing my jw mum phones my house, asks to speak to my brother and gives him a telling off for being at my house because i'm bad association, and tells him that he has to spend more time with the members of the congregation.. he tries to explain to her that the members of the congregation don't want to know him, that he is sick of making an effort to be friendly with them when they just ignore him.. anyway, it finished with her telling him he is to go straight back to my sisters house and not see me again.. he is 24 years of age, surely its up to him if he wants to come to my house!.
sorry, i know there is no point to this, but i just wanted to let off some steam!

Theres one word for this in my opinion- 'pathetic'. Ive got family in the 'truth', and the way they have treated me is very much the same. What has ticked me off more than ever is the fact that they are always blowing hot and cold. One minute they want to talk to me then they 'cant' etc. So i want to make a point now that im the one not interested in them!
Pathetic, pathetic pathetic!!!
