If You See A JW or An Elder, Do You Try To Avoid Them?
by minimus inwhen i was in a drugstore a couple of months ago, i saw the presiding overseer in the other aisle with his wife.
i saw them and made a conscious decision to leave.
what would you have done in a similar situation??

i wouldnt run away, but i wouldnt talk to them or acknowledge them either. ive moved away from the area i was diss-assd in so that would be unlikely now.

i play football (thats 'soccer' to a lot of you) but the thing is i havent for ages. why? cos all the ppl i used to play football with are witnesses. Now, my release is listening to Nevermind by Nirvana... loudly. I feel much better after that!

Im very new, although i left the JW's a couple of years ago, i never looked for ex-JW's on the internet until 3 days ago. Its a whole new world to me and im still a bit dizzy!! I think there is a variety of different people on here with different views, i agree that some are cynical. But im unsure if that is the case or im still coming to terms with my own feelings. However... i know for certain 3 things- 1) im glad i have found the site 2) i still 'think' like a witness and i am struggling to step back and see a bigger picture because of the way i have been trained to think as a witness 3) at some point i have a lot of reading to do.
Im quite a confident person tho, maybe if he is a little less confident he may find it daunting.

On a POSITIVE note ...
by ljwtiamb ini have felt that this site is therapeutic for me, in that i can give voice to feelings that i have heretofore had to keep inside.
i also enjoy reading other's stories and learning that i am not alone.
although, many of us feel that we have wasted our lives on wt, there may also be a very positive side.

I think for me, i suddenly felt a huge weight off my shoulders. Tho in the 'truth' i didnt understand where the pressure was coming from. On one hand the elders said 'do what you can' but at the same time made you feel your best was never good enough. I feel lighter than air now!!!

DID ANYONE ON THE DOORS SAY IT WAS a lot of rubbish?
by badboy in.
i understand from someone that they were visited by jws a few years ago.. the lady said that in a paradise earth, they would be lions walking all over her garden(something like that).
she replied `what a lot of rubbish' or something like that.. were there similiar experiences when you were on the doors?

I just felt that anyone who said that didnt really understand it. I used to hear a lot of people say that they used to 'have a go' at witnesses when they knocked on the door, but never once had someone aggresive when i knocked.
One of my favourite experiences was when i was working with a pioneer sister (who i believe isnt in the 'truth' anymore). She said 'right I hate working this territory, i want to get thru it as soon as possible... so when someone comes to the door just say we are here to talk about the bible, and ask them to go an get theirs...' It worked a treat and we cleared a map in about an hour. It was funny just to see the looks on peoples faces.....

Who do you miss the most?
by Crumpet inparticularly for those who are shunned for reasons of dfing and daing completely, who do you miss the most that no longer has anything to do with you?
and why?

I miss my friends, there are too many to list. But recently Ive missed things I never thought I would. Like the feeling you get when you have done your Watchtower or the Days Text. I guess Im so used to having 'spiritual food'... theres a gap. I dont miss the ministry tho!
