  Smurfs

  i noted on another thread the mention of 'smurfs' and a certain jws dismissiveness of the matter.

  which got me to thinking as tonights episode of southpark is about the student councel wanting to kill smurfs..... does anyone remember this one that did the rounds here in my part of oz:.

  a child took a stuffed toy smurf to the meeting as a cuddle toy and partway through the meeting the smurf got down from the chair, declared it was tired of listening to this rubbish and walked out of the hall!.

  I'm 46, and remember hearing that story when I was 12 or 13....been around a long long long time!

  But then, maybe the same smurf keeps getting dragged to a meeting, and keeps running out!

  Well Freakin finally this Drama has reached it's Climax

  hahaha i just recieved a certified letter , an invitation to a little party known as a jc at the local geneseo ,il kingdom hall of jehovah's witnesses to discuss the matter more fully that i refused to discuss with an elder on the phone about .

  come to our party june 23 held in your honor ...yea right !!.

  so our certified letters will be received on the same day sweet !

  My parents learned the "truth" gag gag and went to the Knoxville, IL congregation.

  We lived in Oneida. Don't think ur far from there!

  Ray Franz - Points in " Christian Freedom " book- " The Recurring Pattern"

  as we all mourn ray's passing last week - i think it's good to remember some awesome points he brought out in defining a " recurring pattern " of control and dominance that the wt society has exercised over it's members the last 130 + years.

  so as i'm reading his second book right now " in search of christian freedom " there are some revealing nuggets i wanted to share with you all.. in the chapter entitled " the recurring pattern " it states about c.t.

  The Significance of Raymond Victor Franz

  the significance of raymond franz.

  in the light of the passing of raymond franz this week, it is clear from the reaction that many were affected by the deeds of this man.

  while he was called gentle by those who knew him (for the record, i never got to meet him personally) his reputation preceded him both in the ex jehovah's witness community, and still to this day at the world headquarters of jehovah's witnesses.. while his writings were indeed fair and reasonable, (i challenge anyone to read his books and find bitterness associated with him toward his former peers) i think it would be a mistake to remember ray franz as somewhat of a gentle, doting old man.

  while scouring the new york times for a feature about jws latest conquest (watchtower=most-widely-read-magazine-in-the-world-prank) (which i didn't find, btw) i stumbled onto an article about a jw family who have adopted some teenager relatives recently.

  it would be interesting to follow up on how they "adjust" to their new strange surroundings and imposed beliefs.

  as i understand, in the the adoptive family, the woman is a cousin to the drug-addicted mother of the girls.

  It is good that the kids were able to get out of the system, and placed with family.

  On the other hand, that's one way to increase "hours studying" with the family. barf..

  Wonder how the state feels about them refusing blood to them in a crisis? I wonder if that

  has even been brought to the state's attention?

  Okay I just got back from the Police department

  the officer was very understanding and helpful .

  he said you would be surprised how many citizens they have come in and ask how to stop the jehovahs from coming to their doors .. .

  i told him my whole story about leaving the jw's after 44 yrs and just wanting peace and freedom .

  I know this has been a troubling ordeal for you! But, I'm so proud of you for taking this step.

  Maybe after you do this, you can breathe easier. Since you can't send out a certified letter

  until Monday, just breathe....Hell, if it were me, I'd put out my "winter decorations" now!! JK!!

  Take some time and pamper yourself tonight, you deserve it!

  Ray Franz Tribute

  over at freeminds we didn't want this day to pass without some recognition of the life and death of ray franz.

  in view of his stated wishes not to have a memorial or service we hoped for something that he would have liked for all of us to take a moment over.. .

  we owe a note of thanks to v for his graphics work and atjeff for the obituary writing - i know neither of them need mentioned by me.. .

  so yesterday i end up having a nice evening with old friends who used to be in my congregation years ago.

  i always loved this family, and thought we were pretty close.

  what was meant to be a 'drop by - say hi' ended up being a 3hr visit!!
