"He actually went so far as to say I wasn't speaking the ' pure language '."-- hmm, cult 101 or what?

What not to say...
by joey jojo inhey guys.
i was recently talking to a old friend who is a very active elder.
i was talking about ' the truth' and he suggested i sounded like an apostate because i used terms like ' the society' and ' watchtower '.. i am aware that ' dubspeak ' has changed over the years and i am pretty sure that someone posted about it here but i can't find the thread.

JW.ORG Now requires personal address
by AverageJoe1 inlogging on to the user area access today, there appeared a message saying that they now require a postal and physical home address to attach to your profile, with a note saying that the branch may change the details as they see fit.
this raises several questions in my mind:.
why would they need to have your physical address on file?.

You mean just to look at the website requires a log in? Why the heck are they going door to door advertising their website then?

You guys don't want that label but I do. Technically, never being a jw I don't get the label. For awhile, long ago, they wouldn't leave me alone so I asked my jw if I could join just so I could quit and get the label so they would stay away from me! lol, he wouldn't go for that.

My awkward elders hearing
by Andamormonjustbelieves ini was baptized when i was 14 years old.
i hadn't had any real relationship with a girl up to that point.
but when i started going to high school i learnt the joys of experimenting with girls, so i did not stay a faithful member of the congregation for long.

What a bunch of pervert elders!
If one must confess to some human, why isn't it enough to say that inappropriate things occurred and leave it at that? I should think if one is old enough to be fooling around in any capacity they certainly know if it was inappropriate according the jw rules and intimate details are not necessary.
I thought jw's like to think of themselves as "gentlemen"? Gentlemen do not kiss and tell all the details to anybody. If anybody questioned my child in this manner they would not be of this earth for long.

Watchtower’s 53 Date Failures -- Prophetic Declarations Quietly Abandoned
by FatFreek 2005 inbelow is a paste of the front of my recent essay.
ask most jws today and they'll tell you that, yes, watchtower has made a few mistakes -- that there are a couple date failures -- 1925 -- and maybe another one they can't even remember.. lest they forget, the following should jog their collective memories as to how egregious watchtower has been in their obsession with date predictions (oh, but we don't make predictions, they may tell you) over the 138 years of watchtower history.. len miller.

JWs leaving the cult, here is a story of one family.
by Crazyguy inso a friend of mine will start with him.
he's a typical jw goes to meeting helps out a lot uses his truck to move stuff around for the cult etc.. his wife gets bored with life and goes on a fornication spree and then gets dfd.
he didn't like the way it was handled and himself during this time of emotional chaos has a minor indiscretion and gets privately reproved.

I'm glad they have left, just wish it wasn't because of so much drama and pain for all involved. Hope they all go on to happier times.

Here is your typical Kingdom Hall of Jehovah'w Witnesses attendance!
by RULES & REGULATIONS in.
kingdom hall south dakota live stream.....i found this video on youtube.com.
it reminds me of my old kingdom hall where hardly anyone is sitting in the front rows and doesn't seem like they have a large membership.most kingdom halls sit around 200 people at the most and seem to have a hard time filling the seats.. my old congregation had around 45 members when i left 4 years ago.we always seemed to have a hard time meeting the monthly expenses.some months,i was told that some elders would contribute extra money so the congregation would not be in the negative for the month.. how many members did your congregation have while you were still attending and did meet its expenses for the month?.

We should try and drive by a kh on a meeting night to get a better idea of what the numbers really are. Would that be an accurate way to go about it without actually stepping foot in a kh? I'm assuming they are not all driving together for meetings.

Love for the Hate
by IronSharpensIron ini just wanted to share a perspective related to my experience with leaving the jw.
at this point, i have been df'd since i was 18. i'm 25, happily married with 2 fantastic children.
after being miserably at odds with my parents and extended family, i've come to some realizations as follows.. i struggled with the conditional nature of my parent's love- talking to me until it bothered their conscience, then cutting me off.

While I can applaud your effort to take the high road and act in love, my worry would be your innocent children. Personally I think it unhealthy for children to have to come to the knowledge and experience of the very conditional yo-yo love of jw grandparents. Today grandma/pa love them, tomorrow? who knows what the borg will require. Should a child be required to live by the rules of this cult even if they are not members themselves? or do/will you explain it as a mental illness of sorts or go into how cults work? I am truly asking not being sarcastic.
Families are or should be package deals, warts and all. We all have our faults but if my kids are threatened either physically, mentally, spiritually or sexually, look out, this mama bear will not stand for it. Just my take. I can say this because I went to extreme lengths to protect my kids and that of family members from my own jw, who I do love very much. We all love him, but will not tolerate any jw shenanigans. Things are better now and luckily all the little ones have grown up and know the dangers of the jw's from me, books, their own churches and their own research.
