  I could compare my jw going out in fs and knocking on doors with other women as dating too. Have they considered how this looks to non jw's? When a jw pair knocks on a door people assume they are married. I have had this conversation with non jw's numerous times and they never knew that the couple knocking on their door were may not have actually been a 'couple'. Yet the wt has no problem projecting this image. Saying "this is my friend..." just makes them look weirder, next question I get is why do they introduce their wife as 'their friend'?

  Are you dating? □ Yes □ No --- Yes, I regularly go in fs with other women who are not my wife. We even stop for a bite to eat or coffee.
  

  ▪ Several times a day, you text-message or talk on the phone with one particular friend of the opposite sex.

  Are you dating? □ Yes □ No-----Yes, the elders wife or other women in the cong regularly text me about complete nonsense.
  

  ▪ You and a member of the opposite sex have a secret friendship. Your parents (wife) don’t know. You haven’t told them because you know they’ll disapprove.

  Are you dating? □ Yes □ No---Yes, my wife wholeheartedly disapproves of me going out with other women for hours every weekend year after year.
  

  ▪ Every time you get together with your friends, you pair off with the same person of the opposite sex.

  Are you dating? □ Yes □ No---Not sure how the whole car group thing works but hey, all congs are small so it is quite likely I will be put with my favorites on a semi regular basis.

  On another rant- No dating at such a young age but committing yourself to an org at a young age is ok? (baptism)

  For those that read the bible, does the true message of scripture still come through in NWT?

  my active and in jw wife is up for reading bible together.

  thing is she wants to use nwt.. i have problems with that translation as you my imagine.. just wondering if you thought the true message of the bible will shine through the deliberate tampering of the nwt?.

  i know many people here don't like or want to read the bible and think it's rubbish anyway, so if that's you, you can save your comments :-).

  I suggest you read all the shunning stories here and elsewhere and how many families have been destroyed by this evil cult.

  You are not being told the truth by the jw's. Remember, you are not baptized yet therefore you are not worthy of the truth, no non-jw is worthy of the real truth if doesn't suit their agenda.
  

  Can you really believe that all these shunning stories from around the world are made up and lies by so called apostates?

  i think all of us ex-j-dubs have had the --i'll call it a privilege--to exchange views with others who think differently than we do.

  we encounter "christians" from mainstream churches.our dialogue is sort of...like speaking to martians.sooner or later, an ex-dub smacks into a wall.

  that wall is a subject which is never spoken about or taught by the gb or watchtower with any candor.

  Trying to talk to a jw about grace is like trying to talk to a Martian who absolutely cannot grasp the concept. It just circles around to 'undeserved kindness' and that's all they got, they just are not programmed to go beyond those words. Banged my head against that wall more times than I care to count, have since given up.

  What a shame, if they could grasp the concept perhaps their concept of God would change too?

  My whole point is that just because the org or current jw's say someone isn't 'really' a jw, the public at large does not see it that way. If I go every week to one particular church but refuse to identify myself as xyz most people will still see me as an xyz adherent and my actions may very well bring 'reproach' upon xyz church simply by my associating with it. Some forget the the rest of the world does not know how the jw's decide who is a member or who isn't. If it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck it probably is a duck even if it hasn't been for swim yet.

  The jw's want their cake and eat it too when deciding who are members, commit a crime? then you were never a 'real' jw, have lots of money but go around half dressed or use phallic symbols in public well, wink, wink ok you can claim to be one, are you an unbaptized minor child who needs blood? you are not a member but hey, we can use your death for the cover a magazine! win, win! (or nowadays maybe in a cartoon or video)
  

  The gb could very well come out against the William sisters (include Prince at the time) or at the very least come down on their behavior and make no mistake of just who they are talking about like they do on a weekly basis when 'marking' or trying to embarrass a lowly rank & file member of the cong who eats, breathes and dies for the org.

  It doesn't really matter if they were baptized or not, to the rest of the world if you go to meetings, claim you are one, talk about thanking jah, etc.... You ARE a jw.

  For those that claim she isn't a jw because she was never baptized then why are children who are not baptized considered jw's when in need of blood? the parents claim 'we' are jw's blah, blah, blah. Using the logic of not being baptized then the kids are technically not jw's and should be given blood as a matter of course with no discussion about it.

  What does confuse the general public about jw's is their holier than thou attitudes, dress, no holidays and then see celebrities like Prince and the William sisters and the obvious hypocrisies. Most non jw's assume it is because they donate money to the 'church' to get away with their lifestyle.

  Don't shoot the messenger, just telling you how conversations have gone with me & non jw's in the past.

  randall watters presents the fascinating backstory of the "aid book", and the brouhaha surrounding it, in this article:.

  "the watchtower bible and tract society: the critical years 1975-1997".

  so far it seems the project to research and write the "aid to bible understanding" revealed serious doctrinal and institutional flaws that the gb wanted to preserve nonetheless.. it seems what ray franz and his team were learning, and were largely blocked from presenting:.

  I no longer recall the page number in the Aid book but look up their definition of 'lie'. I don't think they changed their policy on that one and still utilize 'theocratic warfare' or whatever they call it. Basically the rest of us are not entitled to the truth if it doesn't suit their needs.

  here is a link to an older article about jw's & mind control.

  it appears to be from the time period when jw's were about 5 million and still had that extra meeting during the week.

  i have no idea about the website in general, only found the article doing some research.

  I agree with you dropoff about the looks of the site, as I said I had not looked at the content of the site, the article just came up when googling. The article itself is good though and not mystical etc..... mostly how the gb controls the r & f and does not encourage independent thinking and so on.
