  Anyone know what the special talk is this weekend?

  non jw so thank you for bearing with me.

  do special talks happen with individual congregations or is it throughout?

  i was told by my husband that i had to go with him and the rest of his family to the special talk that was happening this weekend.

  How did you feel when you got baptized?

  back in 2005, i remember sitting in the stadium in the special rows with 42 others.

  8000 people were looking at us - maybe even with a binocular - while listening to the speech.

  my family and my friends among them, being all proud of me.. i don't remember being enthusiastic.

  Animals, Blood, Food, and JW Beliefs

  i'm just thinking aloud here.

  i watched a show yesterday and they were talking about how the largest mammals of the sea (whales) fed on such small creatures (plankton) rather than eating some other large creatures.

  anyway, it got me thinking about how as jws we thought that in paradise animals would all be herbivores, that they would no longer eat other animals.

  Don't they say satan made some of the things like mosquitoes just to mess things up for us? I thought my jw told me that was a theory once but he was a new jw at that time so maybe some random jw told him that theory (?)

  Proof they are not a cult??

  the following is from a facebook post and..maybe i am missing something, but none of these items disprove them being in a cult.

  jehovah's witnesses are often mistaken to be something else.

  Jehovah witnesses and life insurance

  my wife was recently cornered by the elders about her blood card because she didn't have one.

  so one elder witnessed her sign it and he signed it and one elder made himself her health care agent.. with the memorial coming up i am thinking of maybe having a life insurance policy drawn up, maybe in the amount of 300 or 400 dollars a month and i will ask these two dipshits if they would like to sign it.

  it only seems fair they should be finicially responsible for my son since they made my wife sign a document endangering her safety.. what do you think?.

  Here is a story I heard- a guy was home sat morn and enjoying his wife on their couch, door knock, "let's ignore it!" , knock again, again they ignore the knock by the third knock and with time between each knock the kept thinking they would go away, by the third knock the guy was seriously annoyed. Finally he opens the door naked and the jw has the nerve to say, "you shouldn't open your door naked!" The guy had to explain that if someone does not open their door they may not want to be bothered, I was in the midst of making love to my wife and you refused to leave my door! of course I'm naked!" the jw's were still highly offended and had no concept of why the homeowner was miffed about having to answer his door when after the first knock they didn't leave.

  Yes, this guy loves to tell this story and spread the good news about nosy intrusive jw's who won't take no for an answer.

  In today's day I don't understand why anybody opens their door to these people or anybody for that matter. Remember a story a number of years back, down south maybe, where some jw's were actually casing homes to rob later? yeah, yeah, they weren't 'real' jw's, give me a break, they were baptized and went all the time, they were jw's.

  Could use some advice, divorce and children

  i understand a lot of you have had experience with different situations but i just need to see if there is anything to shed light on my situation.. i separated from my wife of 13 yrs (been apart for the past 2 now), and left.

  this was our second separation.

  i couldn't deal with her ways anymore so i chose to leave.
