Proof they are not a cult??

The following is from a Facebook post and..Maybe I am missing something, but none of these items disprove them being in a cult.

Jehovah's Witnesses are often mistaken to be something else. Some say it a secret cult while others believe something else.......i'm very proud to tell you my readers that I'm one of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Below are 17 facts that shows Jehovah's Witness is not a cult....

1. There are currently about 8 million Jehovah's witnesses around the world.

2. An average of over 800 people become Jehovah's witnesses daily.

3. We keep coming to your doors even though we have regular jobs and family like you because we are admonished to do so by Jesus Christ.

4. We do not participate in wars and for this reason more than 1600 Jehovah's witnesses were killed by Hitler.

5. There are currently over 300 Jehovah's witnesses in Prison in South Korea and Egypt because they refused to stop preaching or enlist in the military.

6. We don't salute the flag or say national Anthems because we pledge our allegiance only to God.

7. Yes we have fun and party too so don't get that twisted.

8. Not many of us know the name of the President of our headquarters because we do not pay any reference to him He is a fellow servant of God just like the rest of us are.

9. You earn the privilege of becoming a Jehovah's Witness. It's not given to you or passed down.

10. We sin too.

11. 1 out every 455 Nigerian is a Jehovah's Witness and 1 out of every 262 American is a Jehovah's Witness.

12. Every year, more people read our monthly magazines than any other magazines in the World.

13. Not until 2 years ago Jehovah's witnesses were the only religion required to pay taxes in France.

14. Do you know as a Jehovah's Witness I could visit China and spend a night at any Jehovah's Witnesses without either of us feeling suspicious of each other.

15. Last year Jehovah's witnesses around the World spent a total of 1,841,180,235 hours preaching .

16. We own the largest printing press in the World (The "Meps" & yet non of our publications are for sale.

18. We are preaching the good news with the latest multimedia techniques and possess the coolest bible study aids like JW bread-cast, WOLibraray, specialized educational tools in Braille and for minority languages as well as our conventions, with which we finance a lot.

19. Although we are also imperfect and err we try to apologize and always correct our ways and teachings as soon we learn that something doesnt fit.

20. We have an theorically unmanageable large number of legal entities who nevertheless all follow one direction under one lord and one faith.

21. We have the best renovations program for halls and place of worship.

22. We have relief programs and are able to organise fast international help.

23. We have the most beautiful religious headquarter of all religions, it was built although it looked like the town government wouldnt give the allowance for the project, because it was unbelievable what we tried.

24. We are supporting a health system that protects peoples right to avoid blood that is dangerous.

25. Our education of children is the best because it relies on principle that are proofed by the bible. Our mothers are mostly with the children and dont work because they have part time job.

26. Going from house to house and in the street service we try to help people if they need help.

27. Our leaders are not idle and proud but take themselves part in the preaching and donate money from the little compensation that they receive for their service for others who need help.

28. We have a worldwide network of lawyers with which we are able to support implementation of human rights for religious minorites. We are assisting the UN-Human rights activities and the European OSCE work for peace and security because we are the best citizens one can imagine.

Well, when I look at the list, these are the items that I found that prove that they are a cult, not that they aren't:

That's not including the fact that they feel compelled to prove that they aren't a cult. The fact that they have to constantly explain and defend themselves is proof of that too.

I agree that none of the items in the list proof that the aren't a cultic organization. However, if you look at the larger picture, the list looks like a promotion of the WT than anything else. That post doesn't look like any invitation to conversation, nor an invitation to be questioned about their statements.

Also, based on what I know about cultic organizations and relationships, they are way off in making those statements that don't even remotely relate to the very definitions of cults and cultic relationships.

If one thinks sitting around in dress clothes that look like they came from the tent and awning store, playing bible games, gossiping about JDubya slackers who either are not out recruiting for enough hours each month or are not sucking up to "appointed" positions, and drinking soda pop is a fun party I guess this one MIGHT be true.

They produce a huge number of magazines which are mostly trashed. But since they seem to know what the numbers are please tell us:

Which magazines came into second and third place to the Watchtower? Also, what are the numbers of magazines produced by the three above mentioned?

If they don't know the answer to that then how are they aware of which magazine is most read? What's more, how does the number of magazines they produce keep them from being a cult?

Whether a "cult" member may usually know the name of his leader it is not impossible for the leaders to be anonymous irrespective of the fact they are a cult.

I any case, many of them do know the names of the Governing Body's members. A long line of Witnesses usually forms to get an autograph whenever they speak at an assembly.

Most other points are trivial and does not prove anything special about the Witnesses.

We are under the most persecuted and politically suppressed religions worldwide.

We have fought for the religious rights and human rights for all people at countless supreme courts

We went volunterily to the concentration camps for conscientious objection.

We protect our children from influeneces of negative moral like pornography.

We protect our children from dangerous cults and traditions like the grampus or woodo

Our modest outfit and reasonablenees as well as education in the magazins protects our young ones from being victims of abuse

our assemblies are the most secure places in the world

Ok....so they think this list of unverifiable data somehow proves they are not a cult.

Any group can provide statistics like that and usually their numbers are more impressive. (Mormons, Scientologists etc) The issue I have with JW's is they think they are the only true religion and everyone else is going to be killed by God. What provable evidence can they provide that this is so?

May say that loving one’s fellowman is what really counts or that having a personal relationship with God is the really important thing or even that personally reading the Bible is sufficient (rs 326-8)

Those who adopt such viewpoints are * like Satan*
They break away from the Father, Jehovah *By rejecting Jehovah’s organization*, such ones are rejecting the protection of the Fine Shepherd, who has but “one flock” (Joh 10:16) (1Ti 1:19, 20; 2Ti 2:16-19)

Such persons emphasize personal salvation, not the vindication of Jehovah (w88 1/15 17-18; hp 191)
