in sorting insurances out updating , i just mentioned to my wife who is 'in' that in the event you have to claim "dont give any of it to anyone else".. there was a pause i didnt like.. comments by others on this site indicated the wts has been beating the drum for $$ i fear what she may have agreed to.. to those who have insurance it is not.. not to go, not a cent to the wts as they have belittled anyone taking out insurance or retirement benefits.. my insurance has been created to keep her and our handicapped offspring not the gb on a building spree..

Had an argument with my wife about tinkerbell :(

one of my co workers mother made my 4 year old a blanket with the disney character tinkerbell on it.

as soon as i got it i knew trouble lay ahead.

i wanted to reason with her before my daughter saw it so as not to cause a disruption, but it didn't work out that way.

Year before my jw joined the cult he went to the neighbors to borrow a certain movie for the kids (nobody in the house were jw) everybody loved it. The next year kids were watching it again on tv and he went on how he wished they wouldn't watch it blah, blah, blah...... nuts, just nuts. One year it was ok as it is a work of fiction and within a year he was unable to discern fiction from factual events. sad. Naturally me & kids just kept watching as he walked out for some jw thing as usual.

So glad I never allowed them near a kh! They know full well it is a cult and hope and pray he will leave the cult someday.

Have you noticed the common practice is to knock indivual's self esteem?

in another thread, one of our members made a comment that caught my attention.. i have been trying to put my finger on a practice amongst the org and witnesses in general.... as soon as someone does something well, accomplishes something, or excels at something, the atmosphere effectiveley 'kicks them in the gut' to bring them down.. anything that makes a person grow or develop is blatently discouraged and therefore self esteem is squashed!.

the constant message telling a witness to be 'humble' is designed to suck any sense of growth or 'betterment' out of a person..... therefore this leaves the average witness to be a blubbering mess of insecurity and instability completely dependant on the organization...kind of like a 'battered-wife' scenario.... .

I have not been keeping up with the weekly mind numbing soul bashing literature but I don't need to, just noticing my jw's demeanor lately and I can tell they must be on a kick of browbeating their people, again.

I have done exactly what you are thinking of in different forms, have no idea if it ever helped but it made me feel much better. I still deliver anti-witness stuff on occasion. Don't put it in their mailbox put it in their paper box if you are in the US. It can take less than 15 min to hit about 50 homes if it is a subdivision. Go deliver a bunch so it won't look like it was you out specifically for her 'study', just some random apostate nutcase! ha, just kidding

(hint-Sunday morning after the large Sunday paper is a perfect time to this because the paper is so large it just fits in the box and you can slip a brochure/print-out in the middle and it is the first thing the 'householder' sees when they get the paper)

There is also a ministry that sends out anti witness stuff with a Christian answer for things, I once had to get a hold of them because I had the wrong address! I think the donation is 5-7.00 (?) at any rate I gave them the correct address and told them to keep the rest of the monies to send wherever they needed to. I was sweating it out I tell you! I would have been found out for sure.

jw-facts has some brochures you can print out so does Silent Lambs, Witness Inc used to not sure now, there are others out there too.

Rattigan, you never had a birthday did you? You never had a special day where those who love you got together to celebrate YOU being in their life. I'm sorry you have not had that experience, you would understand better if you did.

Go to a birthday party and try to look at it with new eyes and an open mind, try to see it is about love, family, tradition and not necessarily just gifts and cake.

Imagine a day where for a few hours people are thinking of you and trying to make you happy with little gifts, favorite foods, perhaps a few jokes or other silliness all in hopes of making your day special. It doesn't mean they are not cabable of loving God at the same time in fact many families say a prayer thanking God for having this person in their life for another year and blessings for a great new year ahead, etc...

jw's like to say that to have a birthday somehow takes importance or worship away from God, how ridiculous as if one cannot chew gum and walk at the same time!

i consider myself a christian.

seriously did not even think that jw was that much different...but now i know better and it has my mind spinning.

i have stopped answering questions, say my own prayers to god at the meetings, and plastr on a fake smile.

Please make sure your doctor has in writing that you will accept blood. Have a non jw friend or family member there to make sure you get blood if needed. Do not rely on your jw husband to allow blood. You can find forms or even write your own giving someone else medical power of attorney and get in notarized. Carry a copy on your person (wallet), make sure doctor office and hospital have a copy and give copies to friends and family so everybody knows you will accept blood. I repeat, do not rely on jw husband to keep you alive. Sad but true.

so i was df'd a couple weeks ago.

i live in a place where i didn't really have new friends at the kh, so my day to day life isn't changing.

i'm just me living life like i was 2 weeks ago and 2 years ago.

Your family should be a package deal, if you are dead to them so is your child. Protect her. If they cannot be civil around you and your child at the same time why would you want people like that around her?

Let them know in no uncertain terms what the new boundries will be concerning YOUR child and her upbringing and who she will see or not. They can make the choice then and not leave it as if you have decided to act in such an ungodly way re: shunning.
