Hey, you laugh, but a couple women I know made preliminary moves by making sure to run into the object of their interest out in service and then maneuvering to be in the guy's car group. So romantic.
The last gal's manhunt was during my fade so I wasn't around much to see it. I think after charming him during service, she had somebody throw a dinner party together and invite them both too, but I'm fuzzy on the details....maybe that's where they first held hands. As you all know, that's practically an engagement right there.
it might have escaped your notice but sirona and i are totally in love and seem to have a mutual appreciation society thing going on; however this has not taken place without causing some online problems as some of you might be aware.. both dawn (sirona) and i are conscious that we have hijacked a number of threads given our perpetual state of being loved up.
given the untold frustration we might have caused to some posters we have decided to launch our very own jwd loved up thread.. this hopefully should allow threads to go on being productive without the frustration of people (us) whispering online sweet nothings and flirting and we therefore invite you all to use this thread if you are loved up, have similar mutual appreciation societies or simply wish to flirt with other online posters.
you can even use this thread to dedicate a post to someone who isnt online and who just lightens your life and makes you smile.. please join us and reassure us that we are not the only loved up people on jwd.. .
at the moment i believe in god but i no longer attend church, infact its been some months since i last went and i've never felt more sure of myself as a person.. the view i take at the moment is that when i left the witnesses, i immediately went to seek out something that would organize my life but give me the control for a while.
even at church i saw people 'hooked' but the sad thing was, their entire faith crumbled away from the church or if for example the priest (vicar) wasn't there.. i think it was an important part of my journey which helped me get where i am, and i think a lot of folks who leave the org who need something to fill their time and want friends quickly, should try it if its what they need, it was what i needed at that time.. .
on the whole, i have a problem with organized religion now, whereas last year and earlier this year i woulda said different.. .
We need different things at different times in our life, Karl. Its good that you are flexible and open to new ideas.
As for Mary's Church...hrm. Might be a winner. Americans seem to be suckers for televised "preachers" that ask for their money in exchange for "blessings". I still can't believe that anybody sent anything to Jim and Tammy Baker. He looked like a child molester and she just looked insane. I'm sure you could do lots better than those two.
I don't watch TV much now so I don't know who your current competition would be.
Hm, yes, its one thing for Jehovah's people to do a shoddy job building a KH for the their brothers and sisters, who would have no one to sue but themselves, and quite another to think about contracting the teams out for pay when they'd be held accountable if something went bad six months down the road.
The quick-built KH I attended here in CT had some sort of roof leak. The main problem was in the women's bathroom where the damp walls caused the wallpaper to peel off within a few months. It was never spoken about, though....at least not in my hearing. One assumes they've fixed whatever was wrong by now, but who knows. Quickbuilds are legendary for mold problems from what I understand. I doubt paying customers would find that acceptable.
a friend of the family was found dead by overdose some days ago, a beautiful young woman in her late 20s, who had a young child that had been taken away from her some years ago and whom neither she nor her family - unlawfully - have been allowed to see ever since.. i went to the lutheran funeral, church all filled up, must have been 300 present, and the priest gave such a lousy performance that i have felt sick ever since.
not a word about the tragedy, not a word about what a terrible place this world is to quite a few, what monsters are lurking out there, not a word of warning when considering her fate towards all the youths in church, not a mention of her child (who, together with the foster parents and family were not present), no consolation, no comfort.
just stiff rituals, hear the word of the lord, listen to what the apostle luke says, listen to what the apostle peter says, hear the word of the lord in the psalms, let us say a silent prayer, let us say the lords prayer, stand up and receive the blessing, sit down, who has lost these car keys (said within the frame of the sermon!
I think when whoever is giving the funeral talk doesn't know the deceased its probably hard to do be very personal. Of course there are always those who don't really care if they do a good job or not and just want to get through it. The dubs often just give a sermon with very little that's personal even if they knew the person well....its simply another chance to advertise for the WTS.
I'm sorry your friend died. I'm sorry her life was so messed up that her child got taken away. Very sad.
the past couple of days, my eyes seem a bit watery and feel strained, my nose and everything else is blocked up with snotty stuff and i got a sore throat .
I love Wasa's outlook. I wish I could be that positive all the time!
Ken said: Maybe things are not as bad as it might be after all.
Sounds like you are feeling better about things already. Excellent. Hopefully your nephew will get the help he needs, your son will get a handle on the diabetes (have him check out the website for OnePhatMan...not saying your son is fat, but this guy got his diabetes under control with diet and exercise http://www.onephatman.com/history ), and your grandson will get the unemployment bennies and his job back soon.
i need help please if i can describe the problem correctly.. as you are looking at your screen right now, in the upper right corner there is the - to send to task bar, squares to minimize or enlarge image, and then a large red x to delete.. on my screen i can't see these.
the type runs off the screen as i type also.
i am working w/windows xp 2005.. as you note also the lettering w/some letters comes out wider than others.
Yup, that's the first thought that popped into my head too.
Our "founding fathers" were human beings. They weren't perfect creatures of superior morality.
The Bible would be fine as an argument if I believed that a superior being, our creator, had anything to do with it. Guess for people who do believe that the Bible is from God, then that might work for them.
