Yup. I tried reconciling the two halves when I became a JW. I used all their convoluted reasoning trying to come up with logical explanations for why the Almighty seemed to have a multiple personality disorder.

My oldest son found me this morning!!!

and he found me this morning.
:) there are 8 and my oldest son has the only two g/sons that i have.. we were lost to each other before i left the wts, because when i lived in california and he lived in colorado springs, we both moved at the same time and we each had unlisted numbers.. i'm very, very pleased and excited.

Yes, yes, we did think of doin' a drive-by the KH one fine Sunday morn, while all the sheep are gathered in the sheep pen getting fed their spiritual sheep food, and littering the lawn with cleverly folded tract planes, but after seeing blondie's cool, pointy foil hat, I do believe that I wanna make one for myself and decorate it with a tract origami creation instead.

Everyone's talking about getting this damn tract and I haven't seen one yet!!
I've been left out too, juni. Saw an elder today...the pyramid scheme/already rich elder who winters in Boca. Hmm, can't remember when he and his wife head south...probably after Thanksgiving. He didn't shun me or even frown at me, but he didn't give me one of the all-important tracts that will usher in the beginning of the Great Trib either. I feel insulted! -

Can Someone Explain Horror Movies?

i think it was saw iii or something, all this blood, gore, shrieking and grotesque violence, all i can do is ask with a sense of awe --why?
why would someone want to watch that?.

I don't get it either, onesong. Horror movies are like torture to me. My ex used to drag me to them occassionally and I'd sit there with my eyes closed, sick to my stomach. Longest hours of my life, I swear.

So sorry to hear about your marriage ending like this. How very sad. Eventually, you will get over it but being rejected by someone you still love for a dumb religious cult is hard to take.

I know you're right, ballistic. I was thinking about my own situation (and that of at least two of my friends) only. My ex was very good about paying child support, but only saw the boys once a month for the first year we were divorced and then only twice a year for a week at Christmas and a week or two in the summer the following years. One year he only saw them once. He also didn't telephone much. It wasn't totally his fault as he was in the military and was most often posted quite a distance from where we lived...but I still found his lack of interest kind of stunning.
I know there are other men like avishai who are, if not raising their children (as he is), much more involved in their kid's lives. Just because I didn't know any of these guys personally, doesn't mean that they aren't out there.

I was a single mom from my late 20's on. I would have been charmed to see a man raising his child on his own (can you believe that I didn't know any single fathers back when I was raising my kids alone?!)
So many men seem to be able to walk away, leaving the kids and the bulk of the responsibility for raising their children with their ex's, while they pay a monthly stipend (if they are any kind of fathers at all and have an interest in their children's quality of life) and are satisfied with bi-weekly (or even less frequent) visits.
You sound like an awesome man and a great father to me. I'm quite a bit older than you are, though. Be interesting to see what the younger gals have to say.

Researching the WBTS is painful and shocking
by restrangled inafter lady liberty gave a link to the new re-examine site, i found some details that are so disturbing its boggling my mind.. first, the original presidents were voted in, but not one vote per person but for every $10.00 contributed you received a vote.
so those already in power and with much money had tremendous sway as to who got in and who didn't.
this little scheme was not stopped until 1944.. so when rutherford was "elected by a unanimous vote" we can assume it was mainly of his own doing based on money contributed.

The sad thing is that many otherwise intelligent JWs would say that this is all ancient history....and that Jah cleansed his organization (of course he waited until Rutherford was dead before stepping in for some reason but nevermind that). I can even imagine saying this myself at one time. I never thought I was suseptible to brainwashing; that I could be so blinded that I would accept the corruption (present from its very beginnings) of a religion and yet try to defend and justify it.
From everything I've read, Russell truly believed he was special and annointed by God. Reading about his interest in pyramidology, his Miracle Wheat scam, his odd marriage and divorce, you can see that he was just a man...a sincere man possibly, but still a man...not a special representative from God...still he at least appeared to be just as caught up in his garbage as the people who followed after him.
When you get to Rutherfold, though, you have a classic cult leader. He used the religion for personal gain and power. He took world tours, traveling first class (with attractive female companions disguised as personal dieticians or secretaries), he wintered in a California mansion purportedly built for the use of resurrected Biblical figures (who conveniently never materialized), he owned luxury automobiles, drank illegal liquor, and had bodyguards, armed with sturdy canes, to protect him....not exactly a spiritual individual. Hard to know if the "Judge" believed his own bunk or was truly a crook in every sense of the word. He certainly had no qualms about using his position and the funds donated to "Jehovah" to live a luxurious lifestyle while demanding all kinds of sacrifice from the lowly R & F. Truly a disgusting man.
I sometimes wonder at what point in my indoctrination this information would have had an impact on me. I think it would have had to have been pretty early on. Its amazing how quickly a person can get caught up in the bulls#!t, especially when they are being told something they want to hear (living forever, paradise, all injustice done away with, meek people being desireable...blah, blah, blah).

Exciting New Use For Tract
