My favorite "old expression", recently discovered:
"Pray in one hand, and piss in the other, and see which one fills up faster."
a lot of people were told to "just wait on jehovah" were you ever told this??.
unfortunately, millions of people have died "waiting on jehovah".

at my congregation's memorial, i saw two things i have never seen before.. 1. since jesus said a prayer "over the bread and wine", the elders who gave the prayers just before passing the utensils took the microphone out of the podium, walked over to the table, and said the prayer "over the bread and wine.
" never saw this before in over 30 years of attendance.. .
2. one elder, probably the most knowledgable, been a witness since he was a kid in the fifties, was wearing a lapel pin on his jacket, very small, looked like a black button.

After the meeting, I got a close look. It was a Watchtower emblem situated over an open Bible. Didn't have the nerve to ask what that was all about. (Note, that the Watchtower was "over" the Bible. Insert your own interpration of that symbolism here.)
Anybody else see anything like this?
hi, it's been a while since i posted.. circuit assembly program 2003-2004.
theme: rejoice in the hope.
endure under tribulation - romans 12:12. nothing special about this circuit assembly this time round, in fact, it was very boring.
Also, the tract for young witnesses, "Young People - What Will You Do With Your Life' has never been mentioned. It's almost like it was never even published. What was the real reason for this glossy brochure?
Actually, just three weeks ago, our CO spent about 30 minutes going into great detail about this brochure, made sure all the kids had copies if they hadn''t brought there own. Made sure the audience was familiar with all the forms of indentured servitude available to the young ones.
Just had our assembly from this program as well. A big three people baptized at ours, all below 18, from the looks of it.
The D.O. spent a long time using the example of when he was a teenager, he was in varsity basketball, had to follow a strict training regimen, in bed by 9 on the night before a game. Did anyone besides me catch the hypocrisy in using an example of high school athletics to people that are not allowed to let their children participate in extra curricular school activities?
.
isn't he trapped in the borg?
what do you know about his membership?
You know, when Cat Stevens converted to Islam, he walked away from it all. He changed his name, he quit the business, he walked the walk as well as talked the talk. Now THAT is a conversion!
On the other hand, Michael or Prince "convert", and here we are, wondering if they really did or didn't. Lessee, if I got up in front of group of Witnesses at a get-together and sang "Little Red Corvette", not only would I be boo-ed off the stage for being lousy, I would be "admonished" by "helpful" elders telling me about the inappropriateness of such a song at a Christian gathering.
Do you think any elder (or his good buddy Larry) is getting on his back?
Oh, yeah, on Ellen, he did say that his show is more "family oriented" now. I guess no Janet Jackson nipple jewelry on his backup singers...
I get a kick out of celebrity "conversions". Just another pitiful straw to clutch at, to say "Well, hey, if a guy as cool as Prince (or Glen Campbell, Johnny Carson, Cliff Richards) defends the Witnesses, it MUST be the Truth(tm)."
Not a big fan of Prince, like a couple of his songs. Don't think he's ready to abandon a life of hedonism just yet....
i'll start.
"at least i know god's name is jehovah!
".......any others?
Using the noun "fellowship" as a verb:
"Let us fellowship with those who love Jehovah!"
"As we spend this time fellowshipping with one another..."
"Mister Frodo, I really have enjoyed Fellowshipping of the Ring with you!"
hi dear friends....... .
one question.... what will you do next april 04, sunday?........
i know you have a lot of ideas for being so far from the kh that day, and not attending the memorial.
HMMM
! wonder if it is significant that this year , the memorial falls on the date 04/04/04.
if you take 1914, add up all the digits, you get, um....15. Transpose these numbers, you get 51.
And 5 minus 1 is 4.
Pretty significant, eh?
HMMMMMMMM!!!!!

in wollongong we've got a council election coming up in about 6 weeks.
we got the labor party's ad today, with the rest of the junkmail.
in it was this little gem:.
"ProudFEET!"
is there a certain album that you own that just makes you feel a hell of a lot better?
for me, it's cinderella's "still climbing" album.
it's about life in general, about how it sucks, but you gotta make it work for yourself.
Abbey Road, by the Beatles
Expecially side 2. Its the best farewell concert any band ever gave.
