Twenty years with a full beard. Grew it because I could. Same reason I wore long hair for a number of years, until baldness set in(sniff). If it's a sign of rebellion, so be it. Besides, my wife likes it, she's the one who counts, not a bunch of goose-stepping parrots.

A VERY PECULIAR FEELING (and a pleasant one at that)
by Terry ini work at a bookstore that buys books for cash directly from the public.. we get maybe eighty or ninety people a day lugging in horrendously filthy boxes filled with roach droppings, mold, ancient dust and, oh yes, books.. among these books there is the occasional "find".. but, mostly (and disappointingly) it is 97% garbage.. today a fellow brought in three boxes full of typical dusty and unkempt books to sell his aunt was "getting rid of" that he thought he'd convert into easy cash.. i took his i.d.
and phone number and then looked at the boxes.. they were all jehovah's witness books!
bound volumes going back to the 50's, all the booklets, books, concordance, interlinear, bibles, etc.

I'm a Land Surveying Tech and work for a local Land Surveyor. I'm designated as being in delegated responsible charge, which means I fade the heat if something goes wrong. I've done surveying work for about thirty years and love every minute of it.
If I could do anything else it would be archeology/anthropology.

Carling Black Label... Now Hubert, that was good beer... That's what you went back to buy after you drank the two six packs of Busch. Of course there was always Boones Farm or MD 20/20 for about 4 bits.
There were some things that seemed to go up in price almost overnight. Comic books were five cents a copy for years. Marvel Comics came along and the price spiraled up to fifteen cents. That was a kick in the pocket book for a young boy.

Quinten..you threw me a curve ball..I thought you said I was semi-invalid..My name is also Kathy...I am just mentally invalid...
But then I thought..how does he know my name?...DUH
That's why they call me Quentin Nostrodamus
Choclate Soda... They were nasty. Couldn't shake them up enough. Nehi's still around in some places. Around here you can get Dr. Pepper in a bottle made with Pure Cane Sugar, if you want to pay the primo price, $5.98 a six-pack on sale. Sure are good though.
Pack of smokes for a quarter eh...I remeber when you could buy a quart of beer for twenty-five cents. It would be Pabts Blue Ribbion or Hamms, or even Lone Star, but for twenty-five cents who cared. Pearl beer was out though, think it came directly from Pearl herself.

Do you remember when they only had one commercial during a TV show?
Yes. Many of the old shows had one sponser and that was all you'd get.
And I never rent movies..between the Lifetime and Turner classics (that I tape because I don't have time to watch them)..I have so many tapes lined up to watch I'll never see them all.
Yeah, cable. Kathy is semi-invalid and doesn't get out much anymore. Gotta have cable. We watched the Big Sleep the other night. Don't know if life was easier then, simpler maybe. New paper back books were anywhere from a quarter to seventy-five cents and there were used bookstores scattered all over town. You could trade two for one, spend a dollar and walk out with a grocery sack full of books. That I miss. Reading took me on many a great journey.
