It's judgment day with mum and dad
by sass_my_frass inwell, it's been brewing for a long time and i was getting ready for it, but i've finally gotten the shun-for-life from my folks.
i was going to visit them in a few months and had arranged to see my non-witness grandparents for a few days too, and invited them along.
here's there responese: (first from dad, then from mum)

Wanted: new parents and siblings
by sass_my_frass ini'm a 32-year-old almost-newlywed female in the market for some new family to replace the, you know... .
i need parents who will make occasional expressions of pride in my achievements, show concern during the bad times, and keep me up to date on all the gossip from home.
in exchange i'll contact you at least once per week, do my best to help you with any problems you may have, make you feel needed, travel with you to places you want to see and financially and emotionally support you as you get older!

Letter to family - first draft
by sass_my_frass inafter a few weeks of being very angry with everybody, making an ass of myself, and being rotten company, a few people told me to start sorting this hurt and anger out, and an effective way is to direct it to the people who caused it - the people who shun me.
so i might send them this, or some version of this, in a while.
in october we're going to the other side of the country where they all live, to see my darling nan and maybe close things with the witnesses for good.

Live shunning incident #2
by sass_my_frass intoday, on a lunch date with my beloved, a young jw couple i vaguely knew walked in and were seated right next to us, just as he saw me so there was no going back.
now there are a few schools of thought re what to do when being shunned; get their attention and chat politely; keep it going for a while until they feel awkward; shun them back... i haven't picked an angle yet.
anyway i saw him in time to pretend that i'd not noticed that it was them, and was just ignoring the strangers sitting next to us in the busy cafe.

I can't make them see it
by sass_my_frass ini visited a jw mate the other night, she had her first birthday party!
she's on her way out of it and working things out.
it was a funny night with all of her miscellaneous new friends meeting for the first time, we've all heard about each other but didn't know what we could talk about with each other because of the web she's had to spin to get out with her sanity intact.

Who else would it be at 9:45 on Saturday morning?
by sass_my_frass ina couple of weeks ago my favourite thing (mr frass) and i were breakfasting and heard a knock on the door.
i was dubious and figured it can only be them, so i made no rush to answer it.
mr frass did, as i hid, and brother anxioussmiles started up his presentation.

Contact from my JW brother-in-law
by sass_my_frass inafter my wedding i sent out an email to every non-witness i know and jw parents and a couple of siblings; the first group to stay in touch with old mates or turn near-strangers into friends in a time of needing them; the jw family group so that they'd know what's going on in our lives and how the wedding etc went and partly because i didn't want to be 'shunning' them; i wanted to be the one showing love and making an effort to maintain contact.
i sent another out recently, i figure i'll make it a biannual report on the life and times of the frass family.
it's nothing at all controversial, just a 'what we're up to' email.

Da Vinci Code (fluff alert)
by sass_my_frass injust finished 'hyped-up-bestselle-of-the-year' the da vinci code.
it was a lot of fun; a great long chase scene disguising a lot of narrative about the birth of christianity.
what i liked was the new perspective on so many things.

Witness hell
by sass_my_frass ini just had a disturbingly spiteful thought... that iftheresagod actually does send people to hell, and jws have this special place in it that looks exactly like the paradise they describe.
as new people end up there they welcome them with joy.
they wonder why nobody who was alive when they died is there, and there seem to be a lot of the type they used to avoid for rumours of their being a wife basher or pederast, but it's jehovahs' will and he wouldn't let them go on being unhappy, so they keep growing their pumpkins and going to three boring meetings a week.
