i walked away from the jw religion nearly 9 years ago after "waking up" to the lies & mind games.
since then i've learned the full extent of the manipulation (thanks to websites such as this & the coc book)and have successfully overcome the emotional & spiritual crisis that i experienced the first few years after my departure.
i can say that i am at a place in my life now where i am happy, spiritually fulfilled and religion-free!
If you send one to the congregation it will get filed, it won't get read. If you want to tell any particular person in the congregation, just send it straight to them, if you know your address. One or more of them will show it to the elders and you'll be dfd pretty quickly though.
Fact: you can't control what people say about you. You could just let it go. Do you really care what they think?

Yeah, if that's all you think about her, it doesn't seem like you're compatible. If you could write pages and pages of good things that happen when you're together it would be a different story. But if you can't, dude, change the locks.
i have been on this board for 7 or 8 years, i have learned a great deal from all of you, but it is time for me to move on and put my life in a different direction.
so i say so long, who knows maybe sometime in the future i will pop in and say hi.

it was the same weekend that my mom and dad, to my surprise, agreed to meet with me.
i was in midland, michigan, about a month ago, only an hour or so from where they live.
in the airport on monday morning, in walked john, someone i remembered well from the jw congregation of my youth.

Just read the most recent developments. It gets better but it takes a lot of time. All of our mums are a bit fecked up. All you can do is smile, deflect ugly conversations, ignore the elephant in the room, and let them work through it on their own. There is nothing - NOTHING - that you can do to speed it up or control it.

Hi and welcome! That letter is wrong in so many ways, like you I don't know where to start. Every sentence makes me gag. The thing that stands out is her telling you that it would be better if you were dead. That is intolerable behaviour. Nobody who is sane would say that to anybody, not even if they were, say, so sick and in pain that they would literally be better off dead - it takes a special kind of crazy to think that this kind of self-flagellating letter could possibly be helpful.
You did the right thing with it; posted it for the world to see. Now dispose of it and laugh it off. Stuff like this can eat away at you. I think I read here recently: 'hatred is like swallowing poison and waiting for somebody else to die'.

well how's this for the laws of attraction.... my husband has just been told that his company is laying off 600 of it's 3000 employees in a massive restructure.. they are offering voluntary separation packages, early retirements, and then of course there will be forced retrenchments.
we are thinking and hoping that he is safe for now, he is in middle management and well respected and liked.
