Well the verdict is in and is going to be read in about 20 min. The scene on the TV is pretty ugly, cops are pulling out riot gear. If found guilty it doesn't look good as far as "keeping the peace."

my first postapostate jdub spotting...
by kittyeatzjdubs inso me, matt and alllll of our friends were at the blue monkey (a bar in memphis), and we were just sitting around, munching on pizza and throwing back beers.
all in all, it was great.
i basically just wanted to get the point through that i was perfectly happy and that i didn't need the dubs to have fun and have friends.

Is it morally OK to try to free people from the WTS and how?
by DannyBloem ini have some serious questions here.
i am still a jw but fading away slowly.
still have some privileges etc, but that will not be too long i suppose.

I think the question is, knowing what we now know, is it immoral not too? But I agree with LouBelle, hardcore ones there is no reasoning with. But ones that start to question, we owe it to them to tell them the truth. I wish someone did that for me a long time ago.

The facts on crucifixion, stauros, and the "torture stake"
by Leolaia infinally, i will look at biblical and patristic evidence bearing on the crucifixion of jesus in particular.
we need to examine the earliest known descriptions of the kind of crucifixion adopted by the romans and the specific terms they used to refer to it.
apparently the society believes that crux still meant "stake" in the second century a.d., when tacitus composed his annals.

Leolaia..WELL DONE!! Like many others, I saved it as a word file to pull out later when I start putting a letter together. I believe early on, the dubs were desperate to find anything to make them look different from other religions. Hence, they grabbed the “torture stake” issue simply for something to point to. And I hate the blanket statement they make, with no evidence, to support their doctrines.

Great post DL76. I believe everything is tied in together. First, they are getting desperate for parents to indoctrinate the kids. Most of the kids, I’ve seen are starting to "fall away" as time goes by. They need youth to keep it going in the future. Second, for their "paradise hope" to take and keep hold, they have to keep people down. Look where the dub’s are growing, all poorer countries where the general population is scraping by. To families that are struggling and scrapping by, a free "paradise earth" looks pretty damn good. You keep people down and struggling, you will keep your R&F dubs.

Wow….great story Brooke. It never ceases to amaze me have much attention is put on "works" in dub-land. Who cares how much good you have done, if you don’t have a "impressive" time slip, you’ll never be in with them. Crazy how long I stayed in knowing that.

Postive USA thread - I think the USA is great because ......
by eyeslice ini started a somewhat tongue in cheek, perhaps slightly anti-usa thread yesterday.
i was really playing 'devil's advocate', so here is a chance to redress the balance.

Great because of all the opportunities offered here. But Simon’s right. We have a fair amount of whack jobs here. That is one of the prices paid to freedom. I think it’s funny. Most of the world is fixated on why America sucks. Many around the world wake up each day, not in America, trying to find reasons to hate America. I wake up each day relishing in the fact I live here. All I see is thousands of people trying to get in, trying to live here. Don’t see many leaving. Even the Hollywood elite that PROMISED to move if Gore lost they would move were still here to promise to move if Kerry lost. Hey, they’re still here. To quote the New Testament, “where else would we go?”
